With the vigorous development of international Chinese education,the number of people with Chinese learning needs in various countries is increasing,so the research on international Chinese education is also increasing.In the traditional research of teaching Chinese as a foreign language,many universities divide teaching Chinese as a foreign language into language teaching and cultural teaching.More attention is paid to the study of Linguistics,and less attention is paid to student psychological level.However,linguists such as Krashen and Tobias pointed out that the emotions of students in the process of language learning,especially the level of anxiety,have an impact on students’ learning.Therefore,in order to better improve the Chinese level of international students and reduce their excessive anxiety in the process of Chinese learning,this paper investigated and studied the Chinese learning anxiety level of international students in Chengdu and analyzed the current situation of their Chinese learning anxiety level.This paper investigated 147 foreign students’ Chinese learning anxiety in six universities in Chengdu by combining quantitative and qualitative methods.It aims to study the anxiety status,anxiety causes,and anxiety categories of international students and provide some advice for international students from Chengdu,to reduce the Chinese learning anxiety of international students in Chengdu and improve their enthusiasm for Chinese learning.The results show that the number of students with moderate anxiety level and high anxiety level is the largest.The main types of anxiety for foreign students are test anxiety,listening anxiety,and oral expression anxiety in class;the results of individual factors on Chinese learning anxiety shows that HSK level,HSK expectation,self-evaluation,Chinese learning duration,gender and personality have different effects on foreign students’ Chinese learning anxiety.Analysis of the causes of foreign students’ anxiety shows that it is easier for foreign students to have anxiety because of the difficulty with Chinese learning,interrupted by teachers while answering questions,and the anxiety caused by teachers’ failure to correct many times,and the epidemic also has certain influence on foreign students ’ Chinese learning anxiety.In the study of ways to alleviate excessive anxiety,the most favorite classroom parts for foreign students are role-playing,watching Chinese video and expanding the knowledge of Chinese culture in class.After class,they usually alleviate excessive anxiety by listening to music,running and other entertainment or finding out the causes of anxiety and solutions;in terms of teachers’ suggestions,they hope that teachers can slow down the speed of speaking,give students more time to think,and spend more time explaining difficult knowledge.After class,they hope that teachers can communicate with them more,teach Chinese learning methods,and organize activities related to Chinese.According to the research results of Chinese learning anxiety of international students in Chengdu,this paper finally put forward targeted suggestions to reduce the level of Chinese learning anxiety of international students from two aspects,that of teachers and students,to reduce students’ excessive Chinese learning anxiety.
