Dunhuang in the 8th to 10 th century was a blending society of Hu and Han dynasties. Many Hu people were active here, including the Sogshi family and their descendants from Central Asia. They migrated eastward from Sogshi Kingdom to Dunhuang area and lived in Conghua Township in the form of settlements before the middle of the 8th century.Since the 9th century,Sogtshi became the main body of Dunhuang Shi population and was widely active in the political, economic and cultural life of Dunhuang. In Dunhuang society from the 8th century to the 10 th century, most of the Shi people engaged in farming, animal husbandry, handicraft industry and commerce, especially in the business,Shi gave full play to the ethnic advantages of the Sogdians, and opened private or hotels to make wine and sell wine. There was also a small elite class of Shi who served in the regime of the Reformed army and the Buddhist order, but Shi’s positions in the regime were generally not high, and most of them were low-level officials, such as official, judge, magistrate and envoy. This was directly related to Shi’s marriage situation.Besides forming families with Sogdians,Shi also married with the Han ethnic group in large numbers after settling down in Dunhuang. However,it is rare to intermarry with Dunhuang scholars.Shi’s influence in Dunhuang was mainly concentrated in Buddhism. After settling in Dunhuang,Shi began to convert to Buddhism under the influence of localization. In the 8th to 10 th century, there were many monks and nuns in the Shi clan in Dunhuang.Among them, there were not only the ordinary Shi clan monks who served as the law, monk chief and temple chief, but also the outstanding monks such as the Dutong Shi Huijie, the advocate of the law Shi Gong and the Capital Law Shi Fahai. As for the related issues of Shigong and Shifa Hai,this paper also draws the conclusion that Shigong and Shifa Hai,the law general who held the Sutra Dharma meeting during the Tibetan Occupation period, are two. There were also a large number of Shi Buddhist believers in Dunhuang during the 8-10 th century, who expressed their devout belief through Buddhist activities such as scripture copy, alms giving and cave building, especially in the construction of Dunhuang Grottoes, including the family merit grottoes,Mogao Grottoes,Mogao Grottoes,Mogao Grottoes,Mogao Grottoes,Mogao Grottoes,Mogao Grottoes,Mogao Grottoes,Mogao Grottoes,Mogao Grottoes,Mogao Grottoes,Mogao Grottoes, and 33 Yulin Grottoes, which were built with the participation of Shi believers. In Dunhuang, the Shi family became a family of generations of Buddhas. In addition, there are many people in the Shi family who are attached to the temple and engaged in economic activities. They play their ethnic strengths, promote the economic development of the temple, and lay a foundation for the development of the Shi family in the Dunhuang Buddhist Order.
