| Calligraphy-related fugue has been composed since the Han Dynasty, and there have been numerous studies on various subjects of fugue, but relatively few studies on the subject of "calligraphy".As a category of artistic fugue, calligraphic cultural fugue has both the commonality and uniqueness of the fugue genre, and has different characteristics in the process of development in each era.Based on the classifications in the "Fugue Hui" and "Fugue Hai Da Guan",and combined with the "General Collection of Rhetoric and Fugue of All Ages",we have compiled 443 fugue related to the description of calligraphy, including one from the Han Dynasty,12 from the Wei-Jin and North-South Dynasties,15 from the Tang Dynasty,13 from the Song Dynasty,18 from the Yuan Dynasty,17 from the Ming Dynasty, and 367 from the Qing Dynasty.Based on literature itself, the thesis takes the history of calligraphy as a reference, and conducts a thematic study of fugue works related to calligraphy in two parts. The first part is the introduction. This part first defines the research object and determines the scope of the study;secondly,it elaborates the current status of the study of calligraphic cultural fugue and analyzes its research significance. The second part is the main text, divided into three chapters. The first chapter examines the connection between calligraphy and fugue and analyzes the reasons for this, including the fact that aesthetically, both calligraphy and fugue are good at depicting objects and advocating natural beauty;functionally, they both have the function of celebrating superior virtue and ethical edification,as well as the formation of the art of calligraphy, the promotion of political power, and the influence of the dual identity of the fugue writer and calligrapher.Chapter 2 is divided into three stages to briefly describe the development of the calligraphic cultural fugue. The second chapter is divided into three stages to briefly describe the development of calligraphic cultural fugue, taking into account the social and cultural background of each period for general care, and through specific textual analysis to grasp the characteristics of each stage of fugue and the cultural ideas it conveys, such as the political indoctrination of the Han,Wei,and Six Dynasties periods;traces of Confucianism and Taoism in the Tang Dynasty. The third chapter is an exposition of the significance of calligraphic cultural fugue, which has carried both literature and calligraphic culture over a long period of development and has multiple meanings such as enriching the writing object of fugue studies, passing on the material culture of calligraphy, and reflecting the cultural life of society. In summary,by summarizing the content of calligraphic cultural fugue in each dynasty,we can see the general development of calligraphic cultural fugue. It is also possible to reveal the unique value and utility of calligraphy as a subject matter from both calligraphic and literary perspectives. |
