In this paper, the creating style of Wang Shu's calligraphy is analyzed as the object of study.While among the Wang Shu's calligraphy mainly focuses on his seal script and calligraphic theory, his achievements in other calligraphic scripts and the reasons behind the formation of his style have rarely been mentioned. With analysis and close scrutiny after collecting a large number of historical materials, it is found that the style of Wang Shu's calligraphy mainly stems from four aspects: influence of his Neo-Confucianism family background; inspiration from various calligraphic theories he studied; beneficial learning experiences under masters of different schools; and influence from his friends and acquaintances. On the basis of this finding, the paper goes on to a comprehensive analysis of Wang Shu's seal script, official script, regular script, running script and cursivescript, in order to present in the history of calligraphy the real Wang Shu who is great on diversified calligraphic styles.
