A Study On Xunzi’s View Of The Body From The Perspective Of Somaesthetics

Xunzi,as an outstanding materialist thinker,writer,politician and educator in the pre-Qin period in ancient China.He is one of the masters of the Confucian school thought along with Confucius and Mencius.In view of the current situation,he critically absorbed the strengths of each school,and also took the essence of Confucianism,Taoism,Mohism,and Legalism to form a unique Xunzi thought.Xunzi’s view of nature,the theory of human nature,and the theory of etiquette and music are typical representatives of his ideological concepts,and they are also important part that has made great contributions to Confucian culture,and it is also the tireless research direction of later scholars.In the treasure house of Xunzi’s many ideological resources,the discussion of Xunzi’s view of the body and its Somaesthetics wisdom is an important dimension for studying Xunzi’s thought.In recent years,with the rise in the popularity of Somaesthetics and the emergence of roots after being introduced to China,people’s attention to the body has increased.Therefore,further examining Xunzi’s view of the body and its body Somaesthetics wisdom from the perspective of Somaesthetics is not only a rethinking of the relationship between body and mind in traditional Chinese culture,but also provides more opinion and path for the future progress of Somaesthetics.This paper studies from the following aspects:Firstly,question and reflect around the theory of Somaesthetics.With the increase in the popularity of Somaesthetics research,Somaesthetics itself is also facing some dilemma problems,such as Somaesthetics and physical and mental problems,Somaesthetics and practical problems.Therefore,it is necessary for us to find a breakthrough point in the Development of the Chinese discourse system,especially from Xunzi’s body wisdom.Secondly,it discusses the structure of Xunzi’s view of the body.In Xunzi’s system of thought,his description of the view of the body is: “Qi” is the existence of the “body of blood”,“form” is the existence of the “body of form”,the “mind” is positioned in our“body of thought”,they form a harmonious whole of body and mind,Xunzi’s cultivation technique was laid out on this basis.Thirdly,discuss the characteristics of Xunzi’s view of the body.Specifically: The first is Xunzi’s view of the body in which the body and mind are one,“form” “Qi”“mind” together constitute the three sides of the human body,and the three are closely related and interrelated wholes.The second is Xunzi’s view of the body of etiquette with“Li” as the core.Based on the judgment of human nature,Xunzi broke through the traditional Confucian thought of the body,seeing both the inadequacies of the human body and the abilities of the human body.His propositions such as practicing the body with courtesy and righteousness and transforming people into vocal music are all aimed at transforming people from “body of nature” to “body of etiquette” within the scope of“Li”.Finally,it discusses the aesthetic significance of Xunzi’s view of the body.First,Xunzi regards the body as an organic and unified whole in looking at the relationship between body and mind,and realizes the all-round development of the individual.The second is Xunzi’s view of the body of etiquette,which not only improves the health of the body,but also realizes the unity of individuals and groups,which in turn promotes the harmonious development of people,society and nature.
