Philosophical Examination Of Post Truth

Although the post truth problem first appeared in the western political field,the controversial election of trump as president of the United States and the brexit event of the United Kingdom put the word post truth in a wide range of hot discussions.Even the Oxford dictionary took "post truth" as the annual hot word in 2016,believing that it is mainly reflected in the interference of objective facts by subjective emotions,or even give way to subjective emotions.This has brought deep confusion to the truth that we have been trying to pursue scientificity,authenticity and certainty.With the development of information revolution and the popularization of new media application,the whole human society has entered the information age.But what follows is not the joy of getting closer to the truth after obtaining more information,but the worry submerged in the vast amount of true and false information.After that,the truth problem has penetrated into many fields of daily life,and it has frequently troubled the public’s cognitive life.The first part summarizes the post truth problem.Firstly,it clarifies the relevant concepts of post truth,defines the application of truth and truth in different contexts,the connotation of post truth,and the relationship between post truth and truth.Secondly,it expounds the era background of the post truth problem.First,the information revolution and the popularization of new media make the post truth become the norm;Second,the complexity research of natural science provides a new post truth perspective for understanding the truth in social science.The second part expounds the main manifestations and characteristics of the post truth problem.The post truth problem is becoming more and more normalized.In real life,it is often manifested in the frequent reversal of public opinion and the reduction of the credibility of traditional media.At the same time,the post truth problem shows the characteristics of relative objectivity,emotional antecedence and human alienation.The third part is about the philosophical root of the post truth problem.Because the post truth problem essentially involves the grasp of " truth" in philosophy,we should explore the philosophical root of the post truth problem.By combing the western traditional view of truth and the post-modern view of truth,this paper recognizes that there is a dilemma in the western traditional view of truth in seeking absolute truth on the basis of the binary opposition between subject and object.At the same time,there is also the problem of the lack of human emotional dimension in its theory,which promotes the emergence of the problem of post truth.The postmodern view of truth opposes the dichotomy of subject and object,emphasizes inter subjectivity,and moves towards the extreme road of dispelling truth.However,people have a natural desire for truth,which also provides the original driving force for the emergence of post truth problems.After all,post truth is not anti truth,but an alternative truth guided by emotion.We should not hold a completely critical attitude towards the post truth problem,but should realize that this is a reinterpretation of the truth problem.The fourth part is about the attitude and strategy of dealing with the post truth problem.Habermas’ s communicative behavior theory provides a good idea for facing the post truth problem,including rationalizing and standardizing the language carrier,building a dialogue mode of seeking common ground while reserving differences,and building a comprehensive rationality containing emotion.By confirming the basis of discourse effectiveness,we can seek consensus in the diversified post truth.Under this theoretical premise,this paper puts forward three specific strategies to solve the post truth problem: providing a transparent and open consensus environment,building a standardized truth supply side and paying attention to the emotional demands of the public.
