A Report On English To Chinese Translation Of Handbook Of Technical Writing

This report is a practical report on the translation of English textbook.The author chose the 10^thedition of Handbook of Technical Writing as the translation text under the recommendation of the supervisor,and selected the technical aspects of the book for translation.In the process of translation,the author always insists on Skopos theory and the combination of theory and practice.The writing,management and publication of technical writings are already important parts of the project management ability of localized translation,and should become the essential part of the training of translation talents and even foreign language talents in universities.However,technical writing in China has started late and there is a shortage of talents to meet the current market demand,so the technical writing education in China has a long way to go.The author expects that this translation practice will provide a reference for future teaching materials and related translation work in this field.In this report,the author first introduces writing background and method,and then describes in detail the whole translation process,including pre-translation preparation,mid-translation practice and post-translation review.Guided by skopos rule,coherence rule and fidelity rule,this translation practice selects appropriate translation techniques to carefully analyzes the vocabulary,syntax and other problems appearing in the text,so as to ensure that the translation conforms to the ideas conveyed by the author of the source text and to the reading habits of Chinese readers.In the last chapter of this report,the author summarizes the gains accumulated in this translation practice and the problems encountered,hoping to provide help for future translation work.
