Textbooks function as an important tool for enhancing academic exchanges between China and western nations. Therefore, the translation of textbooks has a direct bearing on the teaching of disciplines and the transmission of knowledge. It's a great honor for the author to participate in the E-C translation project of the book entitled Creative Writing in the Digital Age, which was led by Jiangsu Phoenix Education Publishing House. Besides,it's the first creative writing coursebook against the backdrop of digital age in China, which is introduced from America, and the fourth and fifth chapters are specially cited for a case analysis. These two chapters expatiate upon how to teach creative writing based on the platform of popular digital softwares and video games. Nevertheless, domestically, there are only a handful of coursebooks related to this field, which are slightly concerned with digitalization. Thus translating it is of great significance for improving students'creative writing skills and facilitating creative writing education across China. The author writes this project report based on the E-C translation project. This report mainly discusses textbook translation by studying the fourth and fifth chapters of the book. Under the guidance of the Skopos theory, he,based on differences between Chinese and English writing textbooks, expounds on major difficulties of translation at lexical, syntactic and textual level, and further provides corresponding solutions, including how to translate interdisciplinary terms pertaining to creative writing and complex sentences, as well as to realize textual cohesion and coherence. Moreover, the author hopes that those translation strategies summarized in this report can renew the theories of textbook translation.
