Liu Qingbang’s works have always been associated with China’s countryside and coal mines.He has always written about rural life with compassion,describing the "Morbidezza" and "Fierce" of the countryside.In The Flat wind and the Thunder and The Yellow Mud Land,he exposes the banal evil of our nation in the collective activities in the era of change.John Steinbeck is one of the most important writers in American literature in the 20 th century.He has always focused his creation object on the bottom of society.In 1962,Steinbeck won The Nobel Prize in Literature for Mice and Men.In the "Workers Trilogy",he takes the Idea of the Phalanx as the guiding ideology,focuses on the life of workers at the bottom of the American society in the 1930 s,and tries to arouse the capitalist society’s respect and care for workers.Based on the author’s interviews and works,this paper mainly uses the method of comparative literature influence research,and on the basis of facts,tracing the source,knowing people and talking about things,and on this basis discusses Liu Qingbang’s acceptance and variation of Steinbeck’s the Idea of the Phalanx.The thesis is mainly divided into three chapters.The introduction introduces the factual basis of accepting the influence through the author’s speech.The first chapter introduces Steinbeck’s the Idea of the Phalanx and analyzes Liu Qingbang’s acceptance of Steinbeck’s the Idea of the Phalanx from two aspects: the destructive power of the group and the thinking of the individual in the group.The second chapter analyzes the basis of the writer’s acceptance of influence:The driving force of literary innovation and the writer’s sense of mission are the basis of the influence.The third chapter elaborates on the variation of Steinbeck’s the Idea of the Phalanx in Liu Qingbang’s creation,which is mainly reflected in the creation of different individuals because of The Non-teleological thought and the Chinese nation’s inherent: spiritual leader and indifferent observer;Different views on mass movement due to different political environment:indecision and violent destruction.The conclusion focuses on Liu Qingbang’s reflection on the modernity of local civilization after accepting the Idea of the Phalanx and the practical significance the Idea of the Phalanx.
