In recent years, campus attacks and violent incidents of college students have gradually come into public view and become the focus of close attention from all walks of life, but also have a negative impact on the whole university environment. The occurrence of these violent incidents is a wake-up call to the society,it is imperative to effectively reduce or curb the violent behavior of college students.Individual aggression is influenced by the environment around them,School is the main place for students to study and live, and peer rejection plays a certain role in promoting aggressive behavior of college students.Peer rejection is a kind of bad peer relationship, which will bring college students negative emotional experience and then trigger their aggressive behavior. When college students encounter rejection, they will evaluate the event and then make corresponding behavioral response.Hostile attribution bias is the tendency to interpret others’ motives with hostility. It is a negative attribution style and an important factor influencing individual aggression.Aggression includes explicit aggression and implicit aggression, which are different levels of aggressive behavior. Therefore, this study aims to explore whether college students with different levels of hostility attribution have significant differences in aggression in different situations through two behavioral studies. In this experiment, the hostility attribution questionnaire of college students was used to select the experimental subjects: high hostility attribution group and low hostility attribution group. In the first study,a two-factor experiment was designed between subjects with 2(situation: peer rejection, peer acceptance)×2(hostility attribution level: high hostility attribution, low hostility attribution level).Explicit aggression of subjects with different hostility attribution levels was measured by Chinese college student version of Buss-Perry aggression scale under different situations. In the second study, the design of the experiment was consistent with that of the first study.Implicit association test was used to measure the implicit aggression of subjects with different levels of hostility attribution in different situations. The results showed that the explicit aggression of the high hostility attribution group was significantly higher than that of the low hostility attribution group, and the explicit aggression of the peer rejection group was significantly higher than that of the peer acceptance group. There was an interaction between the hostility attribution bias and the situation: the explicit aggression of the high hostility attribution group was significantly higher than the low hostility attribution group in the peer rejection situation; There was no significant difference in explicit aggression between the high hostility attribution group and the low hostility attribution group in the peer acceptance situation. In the peer rejection situation, the explicit aggression of the high hostility attribution group was significantly higher than that of the low hostility attribution group. In the peer acceptance situation, there was no significant difference in explicit aggression between the two groups. The results of study 2 showed that the implicit aggression of the high hostility attribution group was significantly higher than that of the low hostility attribution group, and the implicit aggression of the peer rejection group was significantly higher than that of the peer acceptance group. There was an interaction between the hostility attribution bias and the situation: the implicit aggression of the high hostility attribution group was significantly higher than that of the low hostility attribution group in the peer acceptance situation; There was no significant difference in implicit aggression between the high hostility attribution group and the low hostility attribution group in the peer rejection situation. In the peer acceptance condition, the implicit aggression of the high hostility attribution group was significantly higher than that of the low hostility attribution group. In the peer rejection situation, there was no significant difference in implicit aggression between the two groups. The conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)Peer rejection has a significant impact on explicit and implicit aggression of college students, which shows that the explicit and implicit aggression of college students will be significantly increased in the situation of peer rejection;(2)The hostility attribution bias has a significant effect on the explicit and implicit aggression of college students. The explicit and implicit aggression of college students with high hostility attribution level is significantly higher than that of college students with low hostility attribution level.(3)The interaction of hostility attribution bias and situation can affect the explicit aggression and implicit aggression of college students.
