The Study On Wang Chongwu’s Historical Research

Wang Chong-wu(1911—1957),was a famous historian of the 20 th century,he devoted all his life to the study of Chinese history and achieved a lot.His historical research covers many fields,such as academic history,Ming and Qing history,modern history and so on,especially the textual research of historical materials in Ming Dynasty.He made great achievements in the collation of ancient books,participated in the collation of Ming Shilu,and on this basis,made a textual research on the political events in the early Ming Dynasty,checked the similarities and differences of various books,completed a series of solid textual research achievements such as Ming Ben Ji Jiao Zhu,Fengtian Jing Nan Ji Zhu and Ming Jing Nan Shi Shi Textual Research Draft,which provided important reference materials for the study of Ming history.After the founding of the People’s Republic of China,he also participated in and was responsible for the collation of classics.He also had a strong interest in modern Chinese history,translated and published the Translation Series of Historical Materials of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom,which was widely cited.By combing his historiography achievements,we can see that Wang Chong-wu can see the big from the small and point out the truth in historiography thought;In the face of the turbulent current situation,we should borrow the past to compare the present and learn from history;In the textual research,he was strict in righteousness and law,which was highly valued by historians.He paid attention to the textual research of historical materials and was good at finding problems from details;On the basis of extensive collection,bold hypothesis and profound attainments;In the research,we should make full use of multi-disciplinary knowledge to promote historical research and strive to verify the scientific results.Wang Chong-wu made important academic contributions and was a pioneer in the study of Ming history in China.
