The Study of Goodness is Nishida’s early work, and it is centered on life. The book is divided into four parts: "Pure Experience," "Reality," "Goodness," and "Religion." Corresponding to this is the nature of life, the reality of life, the application of life in daily life and the end of life. This article argues that Nishida’s "life problem" is actually the presentation of "goodness" at different levels and the relationship between different levels. Therefore, this article systematically explores Nishida’s ethical thinking on "goodness" from the following aspects.First, the first chapter of this article starts from the nature of "goodness" and clarifies the meaning of "goodness" and the intuitive relationship between "goodness" and thinking, will, and knowledge, indicating that the four are the same type. The intuition of thought, will, and knowledge are different aspects of "goodness."Secondly, the second chapter of this paper mainly explains the reality of "goodness",shows the differentiation and development of "goodness",and analyzes the differentiation and unity between many forms.Furthermore,Chapter 3 explains the specific application of "goodness" in ethics.Discusses what good deeds are and Nishida’s criticisms of several popular views, and reconstructs good deeds on this basis. Finally, the article discusses the relationship between "goodness" and religion, explaining that "goodness" is "the requirement of one’s own life",religion is the eradication of the false self, and that God is the foundation of the universe.
