| Nowadays, various ideas are competing fiercely in the world, and the competition among countries is not only in the form of economic, military and technological battles, but also in the form of ideas. In such a context, every country is under the constant impact of foreign ideas, and every country that tries to make a difference in the world must take the initiative to spread new ideas. Therefore,it is extremely important to clarify the logic of idea generation and change.Unfortunately,at present, international relations theory is rich and mature in the study of norms and institutions, but the study of more fundamental ideas is not sufficient, and there is still a lack of comprehensive understanding of the problem of idea generation and change. How do new ideas actually emerge? Are there common patterns and clear stages of idea generation? What issues should be taken into account when facing the impact of foreign ideas and when actively disseminating new ideas? These questions have not been fully answered by existing research. Therefore, this paper introduces "evolutionary theory" as a powerful theoretical tool to clarify the mechanism of idea generation and to answer some questions in the above-mentioned idea generation, using the example of sovereignty idea generation in China since modern times.Drawing on Tang Shiping’s theory of "social evolution," this paper clarifies that the process of idea generation is the evolutionary process of"variation-selection-genetic" of ideas. In the perspective of conceptual evolution, the first stage of the creation of sovereignty in modern China is the emergence of specific sovereignty concepts in Chinese society and the ensuing competition between them;the second stage is the selection of competing concepts by various natural and social forces;and the third stage is the inheritance of sovereignty concepts that meet the genetic conditions. In the specific study, this paper adopts systematic research, case studies, comparative research, historical research, and documentary analysis, taking modern China as a system, focusing on the changes within the system and the changes in the larger international system, and subdividing the concept of sovereignty into"sovereign status relationship," "sovereign We examine these four aspects of the concept of sovereignty in modern China, from their emergence to their competition, based on data from modern Chinese history, the history of international relations, and the history of diplomacy.Based on the data of modern Chinese history, international relations history, and diplomatic history, the paper examines the process of conceptions from generation to competition and then to inheritance in modern China, and finally summarizes the laws of conception evolution through comparison. At the theoretical level, this paper may help promote the application of evolutionary theory to specific conceptual issues and promote theoretical innovation in the study of conceptual issues. At the practical level, analyzing the generation of sovereignty concepts in modern China and identifying the mechanisms of concept generation will help us to better disseminate concepts such as "community of human destiny" and to target the various stages of concept introduction, selection and inheritance in the face of the continuous impact of foreign concepts. This paper finds that conceptual variation and the ensuing conceptual competition may arise from uncontrollable stimuli outside the system, controllable stimuli inside the system,or uncontrollable stimuli inside the system. This paper identifies the possible consequences of new ideas triggered by different stimuli,as well as some commonalities in the generation of new ideas. The paper finds that the key link in the generation of sovereign ideas in modern China is idea competition.By examining four sets of competing ideas, the paper identifies that some ideas are more likely to win out, either because their existence is more conducive to survival competition among their holders,or because they are supported by some other relevant and powerful ideas,or because they are more consistent with power realities and scientific truths. This paper finds that the final stage in the evolution of ideas is the inheritance of the winning idea. For ideas to achieve heredity, they generally require a constant source of sustaining power. However, the inheritance of some ideas does not require such a constant source of power,as long as inertia exists. Moreover, for the inheritance of some complex ideas, all the more demanding objective conditions are required in addition to a constant source of sustaining power. This paper consists of three main parts: the first part is the introduction, which describes the background of the study, definition of the concept, current status of the study, significance of the study, research methods, and research innovations. The second part corresponds to the second, third, fourth, and fifth chapters of the thesis, which are the main part of the paper.Chapter 2 examines the "variation" stage of the evolution of the concept of sovereignty in modern China, and identifies the different stimuli and possible consequences that led to the variation of the concept.Chapter 3examines the "selection" stage of the evolution of sovereignty in modern China, identifying possible reasons why some ideas are more likely to win out,and summarizing some of the strategies that Western countries have used to induce others to accept new ideas.Chapter 4 examines the "hereditary" stage of the evolution of sovereignty in modern China, identifying the various conditions for the inheritance of ideas.Chapter 5 reviews the previous chapters and summarizes some of the implications of the paper in light of current realities and theoretical realities.Chapter6 concludes the paper. |
