The aria Song to the Moon is the aria from the first act of the opera Rusalka, which was created by Antonin Leopold Dvorak in 1900 and translated by Jiang Ying,Shang Jiaxiang and Deng Yingyi.Due to its beautiful melody and classic topic selection,it is often sung by music learners. Its singing versions are various. The various styles have been formed through secondary creation by different singers. In this paper, two different nationalities of singers’ versions of a song were selected for comparative analysis. The strengths of each version were analyzed and summarized, and the applicable aspects were absorbed to improve the singers’ vocal and stage performance abilities. The paper is mainly divided into four parts.First, from the perspective of the musical text, the tonality, structure, and expressive markings of the work were analyzed.Second, the versions of Song to the Moon sung by Zhou Xiaolin and Renee Fleming were introduced.Third, the singers’ breath control, rhythm, speed, and dynamics,as well as their stage performances, were compared and analyzed.Renee Fleming’s diverse handling of dynamics and tone color and Zhou Xiaolin’s standard speed handling and simple stage performance style were clarified through analysis. Finally, the singing characteristics and stage performance styles of the two singers were respectively attempted to be absorbed, and applied in the author’s concert performances,so as to improve the author’s singing ability. It is hoped that this study can provide valuable experience for vocal students and promote a more comprehensive understanding of this work.
