Ervin Schulhoff was a German-born Czech composer and pianist in the 20 th century.His life was full of adversity.His rich learning experience and displaced war environment created his complex and changeable musical style.On the basis of collecting and sorting out research data,the author will analyze Schulhoff’s Sonata for Flute and Piano.Schulhoff’s Sonata for Flute and Piano is the only work he wrote for flute and piano,and it is also a representative piece of flute works in the 20 th century.The whole music is divided into four movements,the first movement is a moderate allegro,its musical structure is with introduction,epilogue,double part form,with impressionist and jazz style characteristics;The second movement is allegro scherzo,which is composed of complex tripartite with introduction.The third movement is aria,in order to reproduce the single trilogy structure,the flute melody with sigh color and ’pendulum’ like piano harmony texture blend,unique;The fourth movement is a rapid rondo,which adopts the form structure of the compound three parts.The whole movement is high and cheerful,ending this unconventional sonata with a relaxed and free musical mood.This paper will discuss the music through the analysis of the music,combined with their own performance feeling,hoping to have a certain reference to the music and reference.
