Artistic Practice And Fictional Thinking Of Image Ethnography

As the logical belief of visual anthropology,culture is also the theoretical basis of image ethnography.Nowadays,the integration of disciplines is getting faster and faster.It is urgent to explore more possibilities for ethnography related to anthropology and cinematography.In addition to recording,image ethnography also has the characteristic of construction,which enables anthropology to use a variety of methods to shoot ethnography.The concept of "fictional image ethnography" proposed by Jean Roush changed the single situation of image ethnography in the form of documentary,and constructed a "safe house" of performance under the mode of "fictional" story creation,to explore the intrinsic value of culture in virtual situations and active intervention.The video ethnography "song of fireworks",as the video text of this study,takes the song of fireworks,one of the folk fires,as the research object,and takes the song of fireworks activity of Zhulin Village,Qinling Town,Qinzhou District,Tianshui City,Gansu Province as the research case.On the basis of extensive and substantial field investigation,it tries to apply the theoretical guidance of "fictional image ethnography".And ethnographic films made using artistic design and digital media.Firstly,this study retrospects the development process of Chinese image ethnography,Outlines the intersection of artistic anthropology and visual anthropology,and focuses on the expression characteristics and shooting methods of "fictional image ethnography",mainly including the combination of objective recording and subjective construction,active invasion stance,extensive field investigation and contract relationship based on full trust of casting.Secondly,in a one-year field survey,the author sorted out the shooting background and field survey report of the smoking song in Zhulin Village,and formed a first-hand detailed and sufficient text ethnography of the smoking song in five aspects,namely,regional environment,concept of the smoking song,repertoire of the smoking song,team of the smoking song and program of the smoking song,which is the creation basis of the Smoking Song.Thirdly,on the basis of the field report of the song of fireworks,combined with the shooting process of my personal work "song of fireworks" and the expression of ideas,the creation of interpretation.The theme of the works is composed of inheritance problems,urban-rural game,and tripartite conflicts between new and old tobacco singers and tobacco song clubs.The creative process is analyzed in terms of field research,screenwriting,casting,filming equipment and post-production steps.Finally,the author summarizes the creation experience of the work "song of fireworks",providing reference experience for the creation of "fictional image ethnography".With the rapid development of image media and the empowerment of new media,the growth of ethnography may require more self-expression and recording within cultural groups.Now every year,a large number of students of anthropology and film majors return to their cities and go into the wide fields for ethnographic creation.They are more familiar with their culture,which is the opposite of the traditional mode in which professional documentary directors are involved as "others".For the image workers within this cultural group,how do they deal with their social identity as acquaintances? How to dig deeper into the story without the "acting instinct" and camera fear that comes with the camera? These technical issues have both practical and functional significance.Under the guidance of the creation method of image ethnography,song of fireworks considers the marginal theory of "fictional image ethnography" and summarizes several practical creation methods,such as "the involvement of authorship","the separation of man and machine","the application of image empty lens" and "the establishment of fictional contract relationship in the field".
