| School engagement refers to the active participation of students in extracurricular and in class activities,deep reflection on knowledge content,energetic response to academic challenges and setbacks,and accompanied by positive emotion when learning.In the context of Chinese culture,high academic achievement is a demand and expectation of parents and teachers.Explicit achievement motive represents social norms and demands,and is positively related to school engagement and the pursuit of academic achievement.Individual goal pursuit behavior is influenced by both implicit and explicit motive,according to the study of motivational congruence,motivational incongruence impairs emotional well-being.Positive emotions construct confident and optimistic psychological resources,enabling individuals to actively respond to environmental challenges,and are positively related to school engagement.The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between explicit achievement motive,implicit achievement motive,emotional well-being,and school engagement.In Study 1,a questionnaire survey was used to collect 454 valid data from two high schools in Nanchang,Jiangxi Province.To explore the direction of the effect of explicit achievement motive on school engagement,and to test the mediating effect of emotional well-being.The results show that:(1)explicit achievement motive positively affects academic engagement;(2)Emotional well-being partially mediates the relationship between explicit achievement motive and academic engagement.Study 2 collected 110 valid data from a university in Nanchang,Jiangxi Province,using questionnaires and implicit association tests to explore the moderating effect of implicit achievement motive on the impact of explicit achievement motive on emotional well-being and academic engagement.The results showed that:(1)the moderating effect of implicit achievement motive on the relationship between explicit achievement motive and academic engagement was not significant;(2)Implicit achievement motive regulates the relationship between explicit achievement motive and emotional well-being.The interaction between implicit achievement motive and explicit achievement motive is significant.Under low implicit achievement motive,those with high explicit achievement motive have significantly higher emotional well-being than those with low explicit achievement motive;Under high implicit achievement motive,there is no significant difference between the two. |
