Study Of David Harvey’s Thought Of Space Justice

With the continuous expansion of capitalism and the acceleration of globalization,the spatial production of capitalism has shown a general trend of expansion.The traditional spatial justice ideology based on the time dimension can no longer meet people’s pursuit of spatial justice.As a manifestation of social justice space,spatial justice is our value orientation towards justice.David Harvey is a major representative figure in the academic field of contemporary space production theory.His space justice ideology is an interpretation and supplement to Marxism,and we need to deeply explore its connotation and extension.It is on the basis of the space theory of Lefebvre and Foucault and on the basis of dialectical materialism that the ideological dimension of space justice was created,which has found a breakthrough point for the interpretation of space injustice.In his series of works,he has integrated the logic of capital criticism.In addition,he has reinterpreted the capitalist mode of production and circulation process from the perspective of spatial justice,explaining the reasons for the emergence of capitalist spatial injustice.Therefore,in David Harvey’s view,to solve the problem of capitalist spatial injustice,the goal of criticizing capitalism must be achieved.In this sense,studying the idea of spatial justice is an extremely important topic.Starting from the Marxist perspective,this article mainly analyzes and studies David Harvey’s spatial justice thought from the following five parts.The first part mainly elaborates on the reason and significance of the topic selection of the paper,and summarizes the current research status of David Harvey’s spatial justice theory both domestically and internationally,clarifying the research methods and innovative points of the paper.The second part analyzes the background and theoretical origins of the proposal of Harvey’s spatial justice thought,and explains that David Harvey’s spatial justice thought was generated in the context of capital globalization from the background and theoretical sources.It systematically explains that the source of this thought is the inheritance and supplement of Marx and Engels’ criticism of spatial injustice theory,as well as Lefebvre and Foucault’s spatial theory.The third part is David Harvey’s critique of spatial injustice,which mainly includes three aspects.The first is the possibility of spatial justice occurring in different dimensions.The second is the impact of the lack of spatial justice on underdeveloped countries and natural space.The third is the consequence of the lack of spatial justice,which leads to imbalanced geographical development.The fourth part is the practical concept of David Harvey’s spatial justice thought.Due to the lack of spatial justice,David Harvey seeks alternative solutions and proposes to reconstruct urban rights using the ideal of dialectical utopia to achieve spatial justice.However,David Harvey’s dialectical utopia also has certain limitations.This article elaborates on the feasibility and limitations of the lack of spatial justice from the perspective of dialectical utopia,It has been concluded that utopian ideals should be viewed dialectically to address the issue of lack of spatial justice.The fifth part is an evaluation and analysis of David Harvey’s spatial justice thought.This article believes that David Harvey’s spatial justice thought has certain theoretical value,but there are also shortcomings.The theoretical value is manifested as having reference significance for the construction of ecological civilization in China.It is necessary for us to draw reasonable elements from David Harvey’s spatial justice thought and explore some of the problems that China is currently facing with the lack of spatial justice;On the one hand,he overcame the shortcomings of utopia,but on the other hand,he had utopian ideas in the practice of dialectical utopia.Today,with the continuous recommendation of capital globalization,David Harvey based himself on spatial justice and,along with the transformation of capital forms,continued to criticize capitalist urban space,laying a strong methodological foundation for us to correctly understand the development and changes of capitalism,and strengthening our confidence in the inevitable demise of capitalism and the victory of socialism.This is not only necessary for promoting the contemporary development of Marxism,It is also the need for the development of Marxist modernization.When facing the problem of space justice in China,we should also dialectically treat it,and at the same time criticize it,we should also take its essence and discard its dross.
