Narrative Research Of Rural Documentaries

China has been an agricultural country since ancient times,and the rural population accounts for a large proportion.With the acceleration of modernization,the countryside presents a new state,and the historical process of rural social change needs accurate and true record.Documentary video is a means of real and objective recording,and also an important carrier of cultural communication for social progress and development.It can play an important role in rural development and change.Rural documentaries focus on the development and changes of rural areas,record many contradictions and problems in the process of development,update people’s understanding of rural areas,and arouse people’s attention and thinking on rural social problems.Rural documentary is a true portrayal of rural political,economic,cultural and other aspects of development,with high social value and communication value.As China has the largest rural population in the world,rural areas carry the emotional sustenance of Chinese people.Rural theme documentaries have witnessed the process of integration of urban and rural areas.With the principle of authenticity,they show real events in the countryside with the lens,reflecting the natural beauty,cultural customs,historical tradition of the countryside,and reflecting the rural change under the conflict between urban and rural areas and the consideration of individual characters’ destiny.Rural documentaries also undertake the historical mission and era responsibility of spreading social responsibility and rural culture.Audiences also hope that through the screen,they can recall and regain the nostalgia of the past in a deeper level.They require the documentary creators to show the objective reality and find the cultural connotation and value of the countryside.This paper mainly combines the actual creation process of my graduation work "Baijiacun Chronicles".Starting from the definition and characteristics of rural theme documentaries,this paper uses relevant narrativology theories to explore the narration and role of rural theme documentary images in practical creation.The whole paper consists of four parts: the first part is the narrative overview of rural documentaries,including the explanation of related concepts and the development status of rural documentaries and the creation value and significance.The second part is the narrative analysis of rural documentaries,which discusses the narrative presentation and narrative characteristics of rural documentaries,as well as the current situation of Baijia village under the background of rural revitalization.The third part is the story narrative of rural documentary,from the rural documentary story creation of the theme expression,structure,sound and camera application.The fourth part is the elaboration and analysis of personal works.Combined with the filmed video works,it discusses the narrative perspective,structure and language of rural documentaries.Through creative practice and analysis of works,this paper proposes some new ideas for the creation of rural documentary images,hoping to put forward practical suggestions for the application of rural documentary images in narrative art and techniques in the future.
