As the first original opera of the National Centre for the Performing Arts,the opera Xi Shi made its debut in 2009,and it is the first collaboration between screenwriter Zou Jingzhi and composer Lei Lei.The opera "Xi Shi" put the history of China’s Spring and Autumn Period back on the stage in the form of drama,and the hero "Gou Jian,the King of Yue" in the opera was performed by famous tenors Wei Song and Dai Yuqiang.This paper makes a deep exploration and research on the role of the hero "Yue Wang" through the aria "Grass Seeds Blown by the Wind" and "Song of Shadows".Through background introduction,harmony,musical structure,performance aesthetics and other dimensions,combined with their own performances and the re-presentation of historical figures,this paper explores the artistic value of the opera Xi Shi and its enlightenment on the development of Chinese national opera. |
