Research On Zhen Dexiu’ Forgiveness Thought

The way of loyalty and forgiveness is an important thought of Chinese traditional Confucianism,but so far,people’s research and understanding of "forgiveness" is obviously far inferior to the discussion of "loyalty".In response to the problems of the times,the scholar bureaucrats in the Song Dynasty reinterpreted the thought of loyalty and forgiveness from the old Confucian classics,and also expounded the thought of forgiveness.Among them,the relevant exposition of Zhen Dexiu deserves special attention.Zhen Dexiu was an important politician and thinker in the Southern Song Dynasty,Officials to assistant administrator during the Li Zong Dynasty.Zhen Dexiu was quite prestigious among the literati and bureaucrats,his Neo-Confucianism thought and political practice were of far-reaching significance at that time.Zhen Dexiu believes that one of the main reasons for the injustice of the world is that people will not forgive.Therefore,he stressed the need to govern the country with benevolence and repeatedly advocated the implementation of forgiveness.Zhen Dexiu insists on pushing himself for forgiveness.His forgiveness not only has the meaning of "don’t do to others what you don’t want",but also has the connotation of "I have no evil,and I want people to be like me;I want to stand,and I want people to stand;I want to reach,and I want people to reach".This paper discusses Zhen Dexiu’s thought of forgiveness and its internal logic from four aspects.Firstly,it explains the connotation of Zhen Dexiu’s thought of forgiveness,explains the basis for the goodness of human nature and the empathy of all things required by forgiveness,discusses Zhen Dexiu’s thought of pushing oneself to forgive from two aspects of pushing oneself to others and pushing oneself to things,then expounds the connotation of justice in Zhen Dexiu’s forgiveness,and emphasizes that the monarch should forgive politically.Secondly,it focuses on Zhen Dexiu’s view on the relationship between loyalty and forgiveness,and demonstrates the logical relationship between loyalty and forgiveness,as well as the integrated relationship between loyalty and forgiveness,which is loyal to the Lord inside and forgiveness outside,loyal to the body,forgiveness to use,loyalty to the form and forgiveness.Thirdly,it demonstrates that forgiveness is the way to do benevolence.It explains the relationship between forgiveness and benevolence from two aspects: forgiveness is the specific practice of benevolence and pacifying the people with forgiveness.At the same time,it demonstrates how Zhen Dexiu does benevolence and forgiveness by using Zhen Dexiu’s words,deeds and works,so as to further highlight the moral and political practice of forgiveness.Finally,it focuses on the basis of moral cultivation required by forgiveness.That is,sincerely enter forgiveness,and be sincere without arrogance,deception and rest;With the heart of respect,get rid of selfishness in daily human relations,eliminate bad,return to your sincere nature,and be sincere,respectful and forgiving.Generally speaking,Zhen Dexiu’s thought of forgiveness is a process of continuous implementation and expansion of benevolence from the inside to the outside.It not only highlights the role of promoting oneself,but also emphasizes establishing oneself and then promoting it.Zhen Dexiu attaches importance to the influence of monarchs,bureaucrats and the people,and attaches importance to practical significance.This paper analyzes Zhen Dexiu’s thought of forgiveness from the above aspects,and expresses its practical significance to people,the people and governing the country.
