Based On The Women’s Journal(1915-1931),the Study Of "Women’s Economic Independence" During The Republic Of China

In the traditional feudal society,the social status of women was extremely low,and the social orientation of "men are in control of the outside world and women are in control of the inside" constrained women from independent individuals into the Yin,Yang and harmony advocated by traditional Chinese culture.During the period of the Republic of China,with the deepening of social industrialization and the awakening of women’s independent consciousness,the voices of women’s liberation and gender equality gradually rose.In the process of their demands for rights,women realized that economic independence played a key role in women’s liberation.Women’s Magazine was founded in the rise of the new culture movement,and experienced the national revolution of the old and new times,until 1931 because of the Japanese bombers blew up the Commercial Press and was forced to stop publication,is one of the more influential women’s magazines during the Republic of China,which published a lot of articles on the topic of "women’s economic independence".What is more commendable is that although the magazine has undergone several editorial changes and three major ideological adjustments,it has included articles of different thoughts in each period,which can more truly reflect the social view of "women’s economic independence" at that time,and is an important window for us to observe and study the modern women’s liberation movement.This paper is mainly divided into five parts:Firstly,it gives a systematic overview of Women’s Magazine,sorts out the changes of editing styles in different periods,and feels the interweaving process of various women’s thoughts in the Republic of China.To sort out the remarks about "women’s economic independence" in Women’s Magazine,so that we can better understand the social attitude towards women’s economic independence during the Republic of China and people’s exploration of this issue at that time.Secondly,through "Women’s Magazine" to understand the realization of "women’s economic independence" during the Republic of China faced with problems.The obstacles to "women’s economic independence" are manifold,including contradictions in society and women’s own factors.From the perspective of society,the old moral,inconsistent male group,and the long-term social prejudice are all objective factors that hinder women’s economic independence.From the subjective point of view,some women’s dependence psychology and family constraints are also shackles.Again,the authors of Women’s Magazine discussed how to obtain economic independence for women.Whether women can achieve economic independence depends on society and women themselves.The society needs to break all kinds of dismissive prejudice against women,and the country should guarantee it from the Angle of law and education.Women should also strengthen their own sense of struggle,get rid of the psychological dependence and have the courage to fight against social injustice.In addition,the reasons for women’s demand for economic independence during the Republic of China are analyzed.The first pioneers of women’s liberation were the men who oppressed women for thousands of years.Women’s liberation from the perspective of men is more about cultivating "good wives and good mothers" in the new era.Women are still the vassal of men,which is incomplete and violates the principle of equality between men and women.With the gradual awakening of female consciousness,women began to appeal for the same rights as men from the perspective of "independent person".With the introduction of Marxism,some advanced female liberators gradually realized that economic independence was a prerequisite for women’s liberation.Finally,the enlightenment of "women’s economic independence" to today’s women’s liberation during the Republic of China is discussed.Women’s Magazine,which has been published for 17 years,covers almost all the topics about women.It holds an open vision and the idea of complementing China and the West,which has left an indelible mark in the history of women’s liberation.Through the article about women’s economic independence in Women’s Magazine,we can see how women’s economic independence thought emerged in the Republic of China influenced the society and oppressed women,and find practical solutions and strategies in reflection,and explore its contemporary significance.
