| Nowadays, against the unstoppable trend of globalization, transnational education is flourishing. The key to coping with challenges in such a trend is to find a sense of belonging.Through the translation of three English papers on transnational education, this thesis explores the reasons why finding the sense of belonging is difficult in transnational situations, helping domestic researchers in comparative education obtain first-hand data so as to stimulate the development of relevant studies and the formulation of educational strategies in China.Based firmly on the source text, this practice digs out that simple adverbials need much more delicate weighing-up than unfamiliar theories and terms when translating.Periphery information conveyed by the adverbials can help highlight the core. That is the demonstration of prominence. This thesis finds that against the principle of prominence, with translation techniques such as syntactic linearity, division, and recasting, the adverbials, including pre-posed and postposed adverbial clauses and structures, can be effectively handled. In such a way,the maximum equivalence between the ST and the TT can be achieved, and translationese avoided. |
