On How Drama Actors Can Embody Their Role

Dramatic performance is a form of art in which performers play roles and create characters.Performers create characters using themselves as mediums lies at the core of performing art,and is also the fundamental characteristic of dramatic performance.The author believes that the moment the performer stands on the stage,he/she starts to“transform” to the character.Since differences between characters created by playwrights and performers themselves are inevitable,including the eras and places they live in,cultural environment,social classes and ages etc.,it requires performers to solve differences effectively through a series of measures,so that they can give new lives to the characters.In order to present the most vivid image of characters to the audience,performers should recreate the original play,seize both external and internal features of characters,and eventually integrate themselves with the characters.Through combing her study during postgraduate program and experience from performances,and through analyzing the character portraying of Natalia in graduation drama “Passport”,the author gives illustration of concepts,meanings and methods of integrating with characters.
