Zuo Zhuan is an important historical document of Confucianism,which records the history of the Spring and Autumn Period and contains rich ideological values.As one of the Confucian classics,it is rare to study Zuo Zhuan from the perspective of the king’s thoughts.This paper aims to reveal the king’s thoughts in Zuo Zhuan’s hope to build an ideal society by studying the three contents of "the rule of etiquette","the rule of virtue" and "the foundation of the people".This paper is divided into five chapters:Chapter One,the origin and interpretation of Wang Dao’s thought.Research that Wang Dao thought originated from Shang Shu · Hongfan,and analyze the historical background that Wang Dao thought was born in "Tangwu Revolution".The thought of the King’s way developed from the way of the former king and formed the ideal political theory through the continuous thinking of Confucius and other pre-Qin Confucians.The second chapter,"Zuo Zhuan" in the rule of rites and the king’s way.The rule of rites is the external form of the thought of the king’s way,which includes ritual rites and institutional rites.The "Five rites",the association of the Imperial Court,the sacrificial rites of endless people,the patriarchal system and the salvation of suffering in the Zuo Zhuan all reflect the moral spirit and the ideal of the royal way.The third chapter,the rule of virtue and the way of Kings in Zuo Zhuan.As the inner consciousness of the thought of the king’s way,the rule of virtue and the rule of rites are mutually external and internal.The rule of virtue in "Zuo Zhuan" has the moral requirements of modesty,loyalty and kindness,and also has the political ideal that the rule of virtue benefits all the people.The fourth chapter,"Zuo Zhuan" the people and the way of the king.The rule of etiquette and rule of virtue is the form of one outside and one inside of the King’s way of thinking.In the final analysis,both of them serve people and are the ultimate foothold of the King’s way of thinking.During the Spring and Autumn Period(770-476 BC),with the development of the thoughts of "valuing the people over the gods" and "valuing the people over the king",the people’s roots in Zuo Zhuan became more and more important in political thought.The fifth chapter,"Zuo Zhuan" Wang Dao thought influence.The thoughts of Mencius and Xunzi in the Warring States were the inheritance and development of the thoughts of the king in the Spring and Autumn Period.With the popularity of the Zuo Zhuan,the thoughts of the king were integrated into the spiritual world of the literati and officials,and played an important role in the politics of the later generations.
