Medio-translatology,an interdisciplinary theory of Translation Studies and Comparative Literature,has been proposed by Chinese scholar Xie Tianzhen.Creative Treason is the foundation and core concept of Medio-translatology.The rationality of this concept is the prerequisite for the subject of Medio-translatology.There are two approaches regarding research on the Creative Treason of Mediotranslatology at home,respectively theoretical level,and application level.For both levels,there are misunderstandings and misuse to a degree which can be concluded as four types.Firstly,it must be the inquiry of the Chinese term“创造性叛逆”,and the triggered question for its theory concept and meaning,as well as the initial context.Secondly,it comes to the subject of creative treason.Thirdly,it is the application context of Creative Treason.Fourthly,it should be the“degree”of creative treason,and the debate between Creative Treason and Destructive Treason.Creative Treason not only focuses on literary creation and literary translation but also on literary communication and reception.In a nutshell,this thesis tried to sort out the current research of academic history regarding the Creative Treason of Medio-translatology.Under the Polysystem Theory of Itamar Even-Zohar,Foucault’s Power Discourse,Postcolonial Theory,and The Anxiety of Influence by Harold Bloom,the thesis mainly studied the subject of creative treason and its reason.Apart from the Introduction and the Conclusion,there are five chapters in the thesis.The first chapter started with the research of academic history surrounding Creative Treason and then analyzed the reception and misunderstanding of Medio-translatology Creative Treason.The following compared the keywords of Creative Treason between Literary Sociology and Medio-translatology.The second chapter adopted the Polysystem Theory,analyzed the multi-subject of creative treason,and explained the rationality of creative treason accordingly.The third chapter,on the basis of cultural study and influence study,tried to explore the reason behind creative treason from three dimensions,respectively Power Discourse,Postcolonial Context,and The Anxiety of Influence.The fourth chapter started with the travelling theory of Creative Treason and traced its development in Mediotranslatology.Meanwhile,it also studied the construction of Chinese Academic Discourse from three aspects,respectively the discipline system,academic system,and discourse system.The fifth chapter,based on the English version of Yu Hua’s novel,the Cries in the Drizzle,probed into the narration of Modern Chinese Story and demonstrated the disciplinary value of Creative Treason in Medio-translatology.Through the discussion of the above several parts,the thesis is about to clarify and supplement Medio-translatology and the translation thoughts of Xie Tianzhen,promoting the theory development.In the meantime,the thesis concentrates on the narration of the Modern Chinese Story,contributing to the literary and cultural translation.Besides,there is a subline that is the construction of Chinese Academic Discourse which demonstrates the subject value of Medio-translatology.Additionally,the thesis is about to point out the defects and deficiencies in the theory and the author’s current insight so that it could benefit the theory’s development. |
