A Study Of Ghost Discourse Writing In Modern Literature(1928-1940)

Ghost is a kind of worldwide cultural image,it is the embodiment of human unde rstanding of the world and self of a mysterious thinking.Due to the change of moder n society,the development of science,the changes of ideology and so on,the flourishi ng ghost literature in classical literature gradually declined,and the ghost literatur e was driven to the edge by the modern literature dominated by scientific rationality a nd enlightenment and salvation discourse.However,while exorcising and fighting gh osts,modern writers have produced many connections with ghosts and ghosts have no t really gone away from them.they have a complex cultural psychological structure u nder the drastic social changes,and the writing of ghosts discourse is one of the co ncrete manifestations of this complex cultural psychological structure.Since the begi nning of the late Qing Dynasty,modern writers have criticized the thought of ghosts a nd spirits as the reflection of feudal backward consciousness from the value standpoin t of social innovation,and regarded the "disenchantment" of literature as the only wa y to enlightenment.However,as a spiritual culture with a long history,the culture of g hosts and spirits has a clever artistic expression and a wide popular base.Therefore,g host discourse did not disappear even under the purging of the radical disenchantmen t trend in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.Before and after the Great Revolution,with the intensification of political ideolo gical opposition,the team of writers was divided and reorganized due to the departur e of political stance and literary concept,and ghost discourse quietly ushered in the "t ransformation" from the inside out in this historical context.Left-wing writers,Shangh ai writers,liberal writers and popular writers took "ghost" as the writing symbol,whic h linked up with "enlightenment","revolution","national character","urban modernit y" and other grand themes of The Times,and thus formed a unique modern ghost ima ge and rhetoric mode.At the same time,as a discourse strategy of modern writers,it c onveys the contradictory psychology and awkward situation that they are faced with i n a particular historical period,which is hard to reconcile with tradition and modernit y,enlightenment and aesthetics,rationality and irrationality,mainstream and folk,liter ature and market.Taking the "ghost discourse" written in modern literature from 1928 to 1940 as a clue,this paper attempts to interpret the connotation behind the phenom enon of "disenchantment" and " enchantment",reveal the mainstream and undercurre nt of modern literature,the game and mediation of power discourse,enter the inner w orld of modern writers,and explore the secret and complex cultural psychology and e motional structure.
