| In the context of radical changes in the global geopolitical space,Russian Federation has been and remains one of the key actors in international relations capable of conducting an independent foreign policy.The study of Russia’s foreign policy in the XXI century is necessary to understand the place and role of Russia in modern international relations.The changes that have taken place in recent decades allow researchers to take a fresh look at the history of the formation of Russia’s foreign policy,to note its reorientation from the European region to the region of Northeast Asia,creation of “Pivot to the East” strategy and to assess what has become the catalyst for this change and what prospects and challenges open up to Russia when interacting with Asian partners.Thus,the thesis is devoted to the research of the Russia’s “Pivot to the East” strategy,namely its origins,driving forces,successes and challenges in the XXI century.The study analyzes the positioning of Russia in terms of geopolitics and its foreign policy orientation to the West or East.The attitude of the Northeast Asian countries to Russia’s implementation of the “Pivot to the East” strategy,including prospects and threats for the development of strengthening Russia’s foreign policy towards countries in the Northeast Asia region.The study revealed that despite the current difficulties of Russia due to anti-Russian sanctions by Western countries,the interest of the countries of Northeast Asia in strengthening Russia’s economic and political relations remains,in particular,close and friendly relations with the People’s Republic of China have been established.According to the results of the study,it was concluded that within the framework of its geographical location,Russia cannot completely abandon its foreign policy in the European region,but the main vect or of development has been changed in favor of the Asian region.However,to this day,the “Pivot to the East” strategy is not framed in a single document,but exists as a political course that can be traced in many state and regional documents.In the near future,Russia will continue to adhere to this strategy and only increase its potential in the Asian region. |
