| Dunhuang studies,as an international distinguished study,is of great value in the cultural history of China and even the world.Dunhuang Dance Notations,as an important part of Dunhuang studies,has been a hot spot and focus in the study of Chinese dance history.For more than 120 years from 1900 to now,Chinese and foreign scholars have endured hardships and made a multi-angle,all-round and systematic study on the nature,structure,rhythm,tempo,terminology and style of dance notation.According to the author’s statistics,up to now,it has published 12 monographs and 49 academic dissertations and journal papers,which can be described as fruitful and remarkable achievements.In view of this,it is obviously urgent to sort out and explore the academic history of Dunhuang Dance Notations research over the past hundred years.The full text consists of four parts.The first part,the statistics and analysis of the academic achievements of Dunhuang Dance Notations research.This paper makes statistics and analysis from the time sequence distribution,researchers and research institutions distribution,carrier distribution and main content distribution of academic research results of Dunhuang dance notation.The second part,the academic process of Dunhuang Dance Notations research.According to the temporal distribution of the research results and the characteristics of each stage,the research process of Dunhuang Dance Notations is divided into six stages,which are 1900 to 1939: the compilation and naming of Dunhuang Dance Notations;1940-1950: the first of the three founding works and school records;1951-1965:Interpretation of dance notation terms led by exegesis method;1966-1981: Forced stagnation in the flames of the Cultural Revolution;1982-1999: Batch emergence and serialization of research results;2000 to present: Academic review and inquiry into new materials.Diachronic to the study of Dunhuang Dance Notations academic history to comb and analyze.The third part,six dimensions of Dunhuang Dance Notations research.According to the distribution of research content and existing research framework of Dunhuang dance score in Chapter 1,the research results of Dunhuang Dance Notations are divided into six dimensions.They are to research the nature and age of Dunhuang dance score,analyze the structure of dunhuang dance score,decipher the rhythm and beat of dunhuang dance score,analyze the terminology used in dunhuang dance score,interpret the appearance of the dance recorded by Dunhuang dance score,and explore the origin and evolution of the dance recorded by Dunhuang dance score.The research clues of various dimensions are sorted out to find the research rules,and the analysis and discussion are focused on the debate of representative viewpoints,important concepts,research clues,and the updating of research methods and perspectives.Meanwhile,the internal logic of the research of Dunhuang Dance Notations is reconstructed and displayed through the division of these six dimensions.The fourth part,the characteristics,contribution and thinking of dunhuang dance score research.Based on the statistics,sorting and interpretation of the first three parts,this paper summarizes the understanding of the existing research on Dunhuang dance score,and then summarizes the characteristics of the research on Dunhuang dance score in the past 120 years,makes clear the academic contributions of the existing research on Dunhuang dance score,finds the problems existing in the research of Dunhuang dance score,and makes prospects on this basis.Compared with the historical research of other disciplines,the study of the academic history of Dunhuang Dance Notations is a kind of microscopic history.Although the research object is small in size and short in time span,it is still very valuable.First,the study of Dunhuang Dance Notations provides important support and supplement for the macroscopic study of ancient music and dance history.Secondly,through the ontological study of Dunhuang Dance Notations,we can see the close connection and origin relationship between Dunhuang Dance Notations and various art forms in history,and also see how the symbol system used in Dunhuang dance score is constructed.Finally,from the perspective of academic history,we can also see how the focus of scholars’ research changes with the change of academic background,and how the research of scholars from generation to generation is progressive and continuous.Therefore,the perspective of academic history is a higher dimension perspective,which can not only see the origin of dance music itself and its development in history,but also see the research context of scholars.Throughout the study of Dunhuang Dance Notations for more than a hundred years,the wide distribution of researchers has promoted the research to multiple dimensions;the diversified research methods promote the research to dig deeper;it is on the basis of accurately grasping predecessors’ research that several generations of scholars have made breakthroughs in key links and leapfrog in research methods that they have achieved fruitful results.To study the existing academic achievements of Dunhuang Dance Notations and summarize its academic history comprehensively and systematically is a reflection of academic self-consciousness in the study of Dunhuang Dance Notations itself.The author hopes that through the excavation and analysis of the academic history of Dunhuang Dance Notations research,as well as the comprehensive exposition of the research status,this paper can contribute to the sorting of the study of Dunhuang Dance Notations,and also provide some inspiration and reference for the study of dance history. |
