The Leap Of Dance History Research: From Historical Materials To Academic Theory

The earliest studies on ancient Chinese dance history by Chinese would be date back to the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China.In the context of study abroad and the introduction of western learning to the east, some people try to think and rewrite the Chinese history. Dance, a new subject appeared of the time, was studied by people according to the ancient records. Studies show a kind of relation that dance in the daily lives instead of dance itself as one of the arts fields. The relation is origin from traditional pattern of history studies.As one of the indispensible aspects of dance studies, research on ancient Chinese dance history was the pioneer among all the dance history studies since 1949.The achievements gained by youngsters such as Peng Song, Dong Xijiu, Sun Jingchen and Wang Kefen——do reaseaches, under the guidance of mentors Ouyang Yuqian and Wu Xiaobang. Materials arrangement systematically and monographs publishment makes them the first generation in research on ancient Chinese dance history. At the end of 20 th century, Yuan He, Feng Shuangbai, for example, the second generation working on the studies show a trend of theoretical research. In recent decades, in the case of abundance of studies on ancient Chinese dance history, breakthrough has been done in some research fields.Review and prospect about studies on ancient Chinese dance history since the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China would give the original appearance to history from the modern viewpoint.Literatures in the studies include papers, periodicals, monographs and dissertations. In vertical, six periods were mentioned--late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, the foundation of Peoples Republic of China, the Culture Revolution period, the reforms by the end of the 1980 s, the last ten years of 20 th century and since the 21 st century. In horizon, different historical writings would analyze by commentary.Three issues need to pay attention to in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China.a. Focus on the enlightment and promotion of the new science of history on studies about ancient Chinese dance history.b. In accordance with research, the earliest study on ancient Chinese dance history is 1907 in contemporary ages.c. Almost certainly,Chinese Dance History of Ancient is not a monograph wrote by Qian Juntao according to research.Three issues need to pay attention to in the foundation of Peoples Republic of China.a. Focus on the people who had played the vital role in its enlightment of Studies on ancient Chinese dance history.b. The recoveries of studies make it back on track about studies on ancient Chinese dance history.c. The new century, more studies turn to chronicle,dynastic history and regional history; the quantities of researches from the perspective of the poem, archeology and many others are satisfied.Based on the analysis above, the last part aimed at emphasize the convertion of historical narrative mode of studies on ancient Chinese dance history.a. The enlightment of studies on ancient Chinese dance history by historical writing of new science of history.b. The dissertation proposes, in the first time, three progressive layers to define the mode of studies,namely,patterns of historical resource carding, patterns of the textual analysis by cultural sections and patterns of theoretical research.These three patterns of studies establish a logical relation about studies on ancient Chinese dance history in different times,to say the least,it would reflect the acquired rules the law of history of historiography. It needs to be recognised that the law should be more practice to strengthening.
