A Study Of Chinese Animation Series From The Perspective Of "Chinese School" Revival

With the unremitting efforts of a large number of animation pioneers in the last century,Chinese animation has formed the "Chinese School",which has a distinctive style and is unique in the world of animation,fully demonstrating the national style and national spirit.However,after the beginning of the Economic Reform and open up,the domestic animation under the long planned economic system could hardly compete with the large number of well-made,interesting and popular foreign animations for young and old.From the 1990 s onwards,domestic animation gradually fell silent until around2004,when,with the introduction of a series of policies and incentive systems,as well as the long experience of studying and working on behalf of foreign animation,a new situation opened up for the creation of domestic animation,and the new development was firstly reflected in the animation episodes.In 2015,the animation film "Monkey King:Hero is Back" was a huge success as well as the rise of internet platforms,and China’s animation industry officially entered a period of rapid development.The Chinese animation industry in the new century,after experiencing confusion in style and unclear positioning in the initial stage,began to focus on national cultural elements and contemporary national life,pursuing nationalization in all aspects from form,content to temperament,and gradually formed a more unified creative style and national temperament,the continuous emergence of outstanding works not only reminds people of the once glorious "Chinese School",but the renewed prosperity of domestic animation in the new century also seems to herald the revival of the Chinese school of animation.While domestic academic research is currently more concerned with domestic animation films,there is less literature that systematically and comprehensively compares the development of animation episodes.In fact,in the domestic animation market,episodes have an irreplaceable and fundamental role to play.The resurgence of Chinese animation also began with the animated series,so this paper examines the new century in the context of the revival of the “Chinese School”.Firstly,the concept,style and development of the "Chinese School" are reviewed in order to draw lessons from the experience and to seek inspiration from the review and to find links between the development of animation in the last period and the present.Secondly,the current prosperity of domestic animation relies on the development of the industry,and the production capacity of animation companies,the degree of industrial development of animation series,and the degree of audience market segmentation will affect the development trend of animation series,and thus the revival of the "Chinese school".Finally,it was also pointed out that the animation industry should not overlook the development of old licenses,two-way derivatives of animated episodes and animated short and long films,licensing,cross-industry co-branding and other industrial operation methods,which will jointly promote the comprehensive revival of domestic animation from episodes to films.
