Laura Mulvey’s Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema was published in magazine Screen in 1975.In this article, for the first time, from the perspective of gender difference,Mulvey introduced psychoanalysis into the interpretation of film text.By means of psychoanalysis, she revealed how cinemas provide men with the pleasure of watching under the construction of patriarchy, and how females are materialized into the objects for males to stare at.The article not only lays a solid foundation for feminist film theory, but also exerts a far-reaching influence on subsequent feminist film creation. For example, the creation of graduation work Broken Girl is deeply affected by this article. This paper aims to sort out, analyze, rethink and summarize such influence.Firstly,it reviews the main viewpoints of the article, especially the viewpoints regarding males’ gaze,as well as analyzes the creation of some feminist films influenced by the article. Then, combined with the creation of Broken Girl, this paper analyzes how the work consciously adopts the theory in the article to guide its topic selection and production, and how the creative ideas of "anti-male gaze" is realized. Finally, using the questionnaire method, from the angle of gender difference, this paper studies the differences between male and female viewers in watching and interpreting Broken Girl, and analyzes the reasons. |
