In this article,we place Wen Yi Yu and Gu Yu back in the historical and cultural field of the liberation zone, centred on Yan’an,during the Anti-Japanese War.It not only reproduces the complexities of the development of Yan’an literature and art in a particular historical context, but also highlights the ideological development and spiritual transformation of the elite-conscious writers of the "literary resistance" who gradually participated in the construction of mainstream ideology under political discipline. The specific ideological content of each chapter of the thesis is summarised as follows:The first chapter discusses the contexts in which Literary Arts Monthly and Valley Rain were created and developed. The relatively stable environment in the northwest provided the soil for the survival and development of literature, and the enlightened literary policy gave a relatively wide space for discourse to literary publications such as Literary Monthly and Valley Rain, attracting a large number of left-wing literati to go to Yan’an and work with folk artists to promote the development of Yan’an literature. The second chapter focuses on the development and transformation of the publication. The second chapter focuses on the textual analysis of the works of Literary and Art Monthly and Valley Rain before their transformation. Before the institutionalisation of Yan’an literature, the journal was led by the writers of the "literary resistance",who wrote about life in Yan’an,the brave soldiers of the war,and the active literary and artistic activities. In addition, the writers also expressed their opinions and suggestions about Yan’an through their writing, guiding the direction of Yan’an literature in their creative practice and making a great contribution to the development of literary thought and the training of new writers.Chapter 3 focuses on the stylistic transformation of the works of Monthly Literary and Art and Valley Rain after the transition and the reasons behind their transformation. After the Rectification Movement and the Yan’an Literary and Art Symposium, intellectuals made a choice between political and personalised literary creation, and Yan’an literature began to rapidly transform from elite and folk culture to the literature of workers, peasants and soldiers, beginning to achieve a transformation towards the masses and folk, laying the foundation for the transition from modern literature to contemporary literature. Finally, through an analysis of the literary-historical value of Literary Monthly and Valley Rain,we objectively evaluate their value and shortcomings for the development of Chinese literature, and learn from their experiences to promote the development of literature and art in the new era.The study of the transformation of Literary Monthly and Valley Rain helps to provide a comprehensive grasp of the transition from modern to contemporary Chinese literature, and provides a unique perspective on the study of red publications, the works in which retain the most original style of the time and provide valuable literary and historical material for the study of Yan’an literature.
