As the whole purpose of practical life, happiness is an instinctive choice to seek pleasure and avoid suffering and a spiritual appeal to seek good and avoid evil, which is universal and controlling. With the rapid compression of public space in the Hellenistic period,self-spiritual needs and self-preservation appeals emerged one after another. However, the discussion of ethics in ancient Greek philosophy mainly focuses on the metaphysical framework and pays less attention to the practical expression of individuality,so this inherent contradiction causes Hellenistic philosophy to deconstruct this framework.Epicurean happiness view has a deep ethical concern for individual suffering, takes the initiative to resolve the division and conflict between the individual mind and the real world, and overcomes the chaos, worry and fear brought by the objective world.Epicurean happiness view takes the universal perceptual understanding as the basis and measure of life, that is,the feeling of pleasure and paindetermines the behavior of organisms to choose or avoid.Epicuru s believed that the sensuous nature of human behavior is to drive away pain, and to drive away the pain of the body and the disturbance of the soul is happiness. The pain of the body and the disturbance of the soul are mainly due to the wrong perception of desire, death and freedom. Therefore, there are three approaches to the ethical construction of Epicurean happiness view: to establish the boundary of desire,to care about the basic satisfaction of natural desire;Dissipate the feeling of subjectivity, dissolve the fear of death;Eliminate all pre-qualitative existence and determine the free individuality of man. |
