The 5th Plenary of the 19 th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China claims that “prioritize the development of agriculture and rural areas and comprehensively promote rural revitalization” is one of the 12 key tasks of economic and social development during the 14 th Five-Year Plan period. The proposal of the rural revitalization strategy is a need to narrow the gap between urban and rural areas and promote common prosperity,a return to the unique functions of the countryside under the pressure of solving various problems caused by industrial civilization, and a policy embodiment of people’s pursuits of better life. With the overall victory in the battle against poverty, the basic survival problems and absolute poverty of the poor have been eliminated, which ushers in a new historic stage to comprehensively launch the rural revitalization strategy. However, the existence of problems, such as unbalanced urban and rural development and insufficient rural development,is undisputed. The vast rural areas still have great potential, whose underlying rural-resident consumption still needs to be deeply explored. Therefore,in that situation,it is necessary to study the role of rural area’s sustainable development in fully implementing the strategy of rural revitalization and realizing the modernization of agriculture and rural areas. This paper firstly reviews relevant literatures at home and abroad since the proposal of rural revitalization strategy, only to find that the current research, mainly macro and narrative, mostly focuses on one certain aspect, such as industry, talents, culture, ecology, and organizations. On that premise, this thesis takes one micro administration unit,M Village,as a subject to explore feasible sustainable approaches to macro all-round rural revitalization from a different perspective. Then, this thesis systematically analyzes M Village’s development process, modes, measures and effects since the 21 st century based on field investigation and interviews with the key figures.Through analysis,M Village’s economic and social undertaking is mainly credited to its bold integrated development model of industry, infrastructure, culture and scenery. This model highlights strengthening industry, infrastructure, and administration, arousing villagers’ ambitions and training their skills. But to realize rural revitalization, the village still has a long way to go.Finally, the SWOT method is adopted to analyze the current advantages and disadvantages, opportunities and threats, and the thesis then puts forward measures to make sustainable development available. The writer expound the advantages of M village in terms of resources, environment, cultural construction, industrial development and development ideas and the internal disadvantages of resources, industry and population.Taking the opportunities of rural revitalization policy, the era of digital construction and the development opportunities of “double cycle”economy into consideration, and using the SWOT matrix, this thesis believes that under the current conditions, rural revitalization requires developing strengths and avoiding weaknesses, taking advantage of the favorable opportunities in the external environment. It should adopt the expansive strategy of co-governance with multiple subjects, scientific planning and management, active villagers participation, and the adjusting strategy of digital economy construction, brand upgrade and farmers’ education and training. The writer expects that while promoting the sustainable development of M village, through micro research and thinking,it can provide some useful ideas for the comprehensive implementation of Rural Revitalization Strategy in L City in the new era and offer practical reference for promoting the sustainable development of rural areas in China.
