Research On Marxist View Of Leisure And Its Contemporary Significance

As China enters a new journey of building a comprehensive socialist modernization,the position of leisure in people’s better life is becoming more and more important.In general,people’s leisure life in China is developing rapidly,and people are paying more and more attention to the positive effects brought by leisure,but there are still unbalanced problems in different regions and different groups.Therefore,an in-depth study of the Marxist concept of leisure and a correct understanding of the rich connotation and diverse practical forms of the socialist concept of leisure are of great theoretical and practical significance in meeting people’s aspirations for a better life and promoting the modernization of socialism with Chinese characteristics.This paper takes the materialistic view of history as the theoretical foundation,the history of ideas as the research perspective,and uses the combination of textual interpretation and social history to explore the leisure ideas of Marx and Engels and Chinese Marxism.The main ideas and framework of this paper are as follows: first,tracing the theoretical origin of the Marxist concept of leisure.Ancient Greek philosophy mainly clarifies the purpose and role of leisure,idealistic socialism focuses on the sorting out of the leisure-labor relationship,the allocation of leisure time and the enrichment of leisure life for the proletariat,while classical philosophy defines the theme of human emancipation for the Marxist concept of leisure in the form of dialectic.Then,the materialist-historical perspective is used to introduce the main elements of the Marxist concept of leisure.In a nutshell,leisure is the same as labor as the ability of human beings to transform the world(class essence),even free and conscious labor,leisure is the use of human free time,and leisure aims at human emancipation(free and comprehensive development);again,the Chinese Marxist concept of leisure is discussed,and Mao Zedong’s thought on leisure,the discussion on leisure in the new period of reform and opening up,and Xi Jinping’s important discussion on leisure are clarified;finally,the current situation of Chinese people’s leisure in recent years is analyzed,and its advantages and disadvantages are summarized while the Marxist concept of leisure is explained to have its value for the people to establish correct leisure cognition,build a better leisure life and develop freely and comprehensively.
