Research On Engels’ Views On Marriage And Family

China’s Civil Code,which came into effect in early 2021,proposed a cooling-off period for divorce,and the Family Education Promotion Law,which came into effect in early 2022,elevated family education,a traditional family matter,to an important state in the new era.It can be seen that China attaches great importance to marriage and family construction in the socialist modernization construction.With the acceleration of China’s social transformation,the structure and function of traditional marriage and family have undergone profound changes,and the problems existing in marriage and family have become increasingly prominent.Exploring the important content of Engels’ marriage and family view has important theoretical and practical value to solve the realistic marriage and family problems.Historical materialism is the philosophical foundation of formation and development of Engels marriage and family values,and also,the marriage and family theories of Bachofen,Mc Lennan,Morgan and Marx provide an important theoretical source for the formation of Engels’ marriage and Engels’ social environment,family environment and personal learning experience are important conditions for the formation of Engels’ marriage and family theory.Referring to Morgan’s analysis of the context of marriage and family,Engels discussed in detail that the form of marriage and family experienced the transition from group marriage to pair marriage and then to monogamous marriage due to the influence of production mode,natural selection,men’s sense of property inheritance,love and other factors.Engels’ view of marriage and family takes the history of marriage and family changes as its historical foundation.On the one hand,Engels pointed out that marriage and family have both the natural attributes of population production and the social attribute of establishing new kinship ties,and advocated that marriage and family should be based on love,freedom and equality.Engels’ theory of marriage and family not only enriched the historical materialism of Marxism,but also provided important theoretical guidance for the construction of socialist family style with Chinese characteristics in the new era.Based on the statistics of the Ministry of Civil Affairs,the data of the seventh population census and what we have heard in daily life,there are some problems in China’s marriage and family,such as fast-food love view,materialization of love,declining marriage rate and birth rate.Analyzing these problems from the perspective of Engels’ view of marriage and family will help people to change their attitude towards love and marriage,establish a correct view of marriage and family,and build a harmonious family.
