New Migrant Generation' S Marriage Status Quo In The Perspective Of Engels' Marriage Thought

Since the reform and opening up, China has implemented a rural household contract responsibility system and farmers are able to flow freely. With the globalization and the world economic integration, China has established the socialist market economy system. In the joint influence of population movements and the market economy, China has witnessed a climax of migrant workers. New generation of migrant work, as the majority of migrant workers, on the one hand have been marginalized rural areas for their weak provincialism and lack of agricultural production experience; on the other hand, they are young and dynamic and prefer to urban civilization, but they are not really integrated into the city circle and become the group at city's edge. With dual identity of fringe people, generation of migrant workers hover between tradition and modernity. As they are in life stages of love relationship, marriage and raising child, new changes have taken place in their marital status, mainly in their way and standard of mate-choosing, inter-marriage circle, marital ethics and cultural values etc.. Under the influence of economy, policy, culture and personal factors, their marriage shows two sides: the positive side is presented by the diversified way and high standard of mate-choosing, expansion of intermarriage circle and modernization of ethics; the passive side of marriage lies in the marriage utilitarianism, increasingly open sexual attitudes, fading ethics, lack of social responsibility and instability of marriage. Marital status quo of new generation of migrant workers has a certain historical inevitability, which requires us to accurately analyze the mechanisms to make appropriate guidance.Marriage thought system is an important part of Engels' historical materialism. In the "Family, Private Property and the State of origin", Engels interpreted the origin, developmental trends and future expectations of marriage and he profoundly analyzed evolution rules of marriage, which has instructive significance for the new generation of migrant workers' marriage construction. In this paper, making the new generation of migrant workers' marriage as pointcut, the author tries to theoretically analyze Engels' thoughts of marriage, aiming to guide the new migrant generation' marriage construction by Engels' marriage thought and reduce their marital problems. Specifically described as the following:The first part describes the relevant preparatory work. Firstly, the author interprets background and significance of the topic: with globalization, marriage has become a global issue and Engels' thoughts about marriage have been of great value to human marriage. Domestic and foreign scholars have conducted a lot of researches on the theoretical value of Engels' thought as well as study on its practical significance; secondly, the author combs the literature on Engels' thought of marriage and the status quo of the new generation of migrant workers; thirdly, he tells research methods and innovation in the paper. Methods like literature study, phenomenon analysis, and data analysis are applied when the author interpreting status of the new migrant generation's marriage, and Engels' marriage thinking also plays an important indicative role in his analysis in the research; Lastly, the author defines the new generation of migrant workers and describes their overall condition, which will pave for the following analysis of their marital status quo.The second part introduces Engels' idea of marriage. Firstly, the author explores the developmental vein of Engels' marriage thoughts by summarizing and analyzing his numerous works, as a result the formation of Engels' thought is divided into three stages as early period, development period and maturity stage. then, the author sums up the dialectical materialist views from three aspects including synchronicity and distinctiveness of marital ethics, two-sidedness and historical inevitability of marital relationship and dialectical view on the interpretation of marriage with the historical materialism; lastly, the author sums up the main content of Engels' s expectation of future marriage that the foundation of marriage will be love within human entering a communist society after elimination of private ownership, based on which Engels thinks mutual love as prerequisite of marriage, loyalty as the ethical guarantee of marriage, permanency as the requirement of advancing marriage and free but not-capricious divorce.The third part is about overview and theoretical analysis of the new generation of migrant workers' marital status quo. Primarily, the paper analyzes its characteristics from the way and the standard of mate-choosing, inter-marriage circle, marital ethics and cultural values etc.. While the factors influencing the new migrant generation's marriage includes popularity and market economy, implementation of national policies, culture media publicity and personal psychology, their marriage shares both progressive side and problematic side. All of the analysis provides wealth of material for the study of their marriage status. Then, on the basis of abundant material, the author theoretically analyzes the status quo with the historical materialism in two logical paths of the interaction between social existence and social consciousness.Section four presents countermeasures to solve marital problems of the new generation of migrant workers. Firstly, to establish a correct view of marriage that both freedom and responsibility are important with Engels' idea of marriage as a guide; secondly, to suggest some practical measures, such as to strengthen management of the mobile population, to eliminate identity discrimination, to improve relevant laws and regulations, to create a favorable environment for marriage, to strengthen the legal and moral education, to advance individual cultivation and so on; finally, trying to promote new urbanization to solve general problems of the new generation of migrant workers, and then their marital problems. The purpose of this paper is to solve marital problems through these countermeasures to achieve social harmony and family happiness.The fifth part is to take an overview of the whole text.
