| The development of social modernization will make the family’s carrying function spill over to the society. The social insurance system is regarded as an important indicator of the country’s modernization development. What is the spillover effect of,it is worth exploring. As the social endowment insurance system covering the largest population in my country at present, whether the basic endowment insurance for urban and rural residents has "crowded out" the intergenerational support of different dimensions of the family, and whether together with the family endowment have jointly promoted the acquisition of old-age benefits for the covered population, these questions are Urgently need an answer. With the gradual“embedding” of government-led social pensions into family pensions, the intergenerational relationship between families and public policies are closely linked, and the issue of “support for the elderly” has gradually evolved into a public issue of social significance. Therefore,it is of great practical significance to explore the impact of urban and rural residents’ basic endowment insurance on family intergenerational support, and to analyze how urban and rural residents’ basic endowment insurance leverages family intergenerational support to improve old-age welfare. This study takes advantage of the design features of the basic endowment insurance system for urban and rural residents, using the 2018 data from the China Health and Endowment Tracking Survey and the fuzzy breakpoint regression analysis method.Comprehensively examine the impact of the “embedded” of the basic endowment insurance system for urban and rural residents in terms of the direction of urban and rural residents and the direction of mobility(intergenerational upward and intergenerational downward). The impact of resident basic endowment insurance on family intergenerational support resources. The empirical results show that the economic-oriented basic endowment insurance for urban and rural residents significantly reduces the provision of two-way spiritual support, significantly promotes the provision of offspring care support, and has no significant impact on offspring economic support, parental economic support, and parental care support;group estimates It shows that the basic endowment insurance for urban and rural residents promotes women, rural areas, and disadvantaged elderly groups with poor health to enjoy more offspring care support, but it has a significant crowding-in effect on parental care support in the relatively underdeveloped central and western regions. This intensifies the inclination of intergenerational resources. The basic endowment insurance for urban and rural residents strengthens the path dependence of “purchasing” children’s care in the form of currency within the family, and absorbs the provision of care for children.Based on this, this study puts forward policy suggestions such as continuously improving basic pension standards, focusing on socially disadvantaged groups in policy target groups, and integrating the concept of intergenerational responsibility ethics into policy design. |
