| The public service motivation of civil servants often directly affects their satisfaction,initiative,and efficiency in their work,among other outcomes.This aspect has been extensively discussed by scholars both domestically and internationally.Currently,scholars both domestically and abroad generally believe that civil servants with a strong public service motivation tend to have higher work enthusiasm and efficiency,and lower levels of work fatigue.Although research in this area is still in its early stages,new findings continue to emerge.Over the past 40 years,foreign research on the public service motivation of civil servants has been ongoing,but most of the research has been limited to Western public servant work models,with factors such as morality and sympathy used as key independent variables affecting public service motivation.In China,the exploration of public service motivation has only just begun,particularly regarding the public service motivation of young grassroots civil servants.There has been very little research on the impact of public service motivation on this group.Young grassroots civil servants play a vital role as the backbone of grassroots governments,especially given the current busy and complex nature of grassroots work.This has resulted in very serious overtime situations for young grassroots civil servants,which have had varying degrees of physical and psychological impact on them,and has led to cases of resignation.However,due to the high-speed development of China’s economy,culture,and social civilization,many implementation tasks have fallen on the shoulders of young grassroots civil servants.As a result,many young grassroots civil servants often work overtime to complete their tasks.Many have chosen to resign due to being overburdened,but many others have chosen to persist,and public service motivation is an important factor in their decision-making,while the sense of professional mission also plays a partial role.This article mainly explores the impact of public service motivation on the willingness of young grassroots civil servants to work overtime and whether the sense of professional mission plays a mediating role from the perspective of young grassroots civil servants in L District,Jinan City.The research significance lies in exploring the relationship between public service motivation,sense of professional mission,and willingness to work overtime,in order to develop programs to improve the level of public service motivation and professional mission of young grassroots civil servants,and to enhance their willingness to work overtime and attempt to solve the problem of frequent overtime. |
