The term "Chinese nation" was first used by Liang Qichao in 1902.Since the founding of New China,it has become a familiar and frequently used standardized term,referring to the56 existing ethnic groups in China,including the Han Chinese.The Chinese ethnic community,however,is a general concept that encompasses five aspects of identity:geographic,political,economic,historical and cultural,and psychological.It refers to a pluralistic,integrated ethnic entity formed by the various ethnic groups that have historically lived within China based on their common territory,history,culture,and emotional experiences.The formation of the Chinese nation has undergone a long historical process.In the long ancient times,all Chinese ethnic groups integrated with each other and learned from each other,gradually forming an inseparable relationship of "you have me,I have you",which gave birth to the sprouting of Chinese national community consciousness.After the modern era,the Chinese ethnic groups,in their struggle against the Western powers and to maintain national unity and independence,were indomitable and unyielding,and their overall national consciousness gradually awakened,resulting in the formation of a fully conscious national entity.The Chinese national community consciousness has a multifaceted ideological origin and a deep historical foundation.Since the founding of the Party,the CPC has resolutely safeguarded the unity and independence of the Chinese nation and,in the course of revolution,construction,reform and opening-up,has striven to build a Chinese national community,further promoting the maturation and solidity of the Chinese national community consciousness.Since the 18 th Party Congress,Xi Jinping has emphasized that "casting a firm sense of Chinese national community" should be the main line of ethnic work,and that education on the sense of Chinese national community should be incorporated into the education of Party members and cadres,teachers and students,and the public.Ethnic colleges and universities in Northwest China are responsible for training cadres and high-end talents of ethnic minorities,developing local economy and culture,enhancing unity and harmony among ethnic groups,and maintaining border security and national unity.Therefore,it is of great significance and far-reaching impact to carry out education on Chinese national community consciousness in ethnic colleges and universities in the northwest.Since the new era,the Party and the State have attached great importance to the education of Chinese national community consciousness,and taken many initiatives to promote the education of Chinese national community consciousness in ethnic areas,such as attaching importance to the education of national unity and progress,attaching importance to the education of national common language and script in ethnic areas,actively carrying out the education of "mainland counterpart support for frontier colleges and universities",and attaching importance to the development of ethnic higher education.and the development of ethnic higher education.In recent years,ethnic colleges and universities in northwest China have conscientiously carried out the requirements of the Party and the State,focusing on the central task of "casting a firm sense of Chinese national community" and actively promoting related education work.Most of these institutions have set up research bases and related research centers,constructed related curriculums,compiled related lecture notes,held related activities,and realized the integration of the first classroom and the second classroom.However,due to the time required for the implementation of this education However,due to the short time,inexperience,and lack of financial and material resources,there are some shortcomings in this education.In the future,we should continue to improve the curriculum,strengthen the teaching staff,enhance the practical activities based on the curriculum,and establish a sound long-term guarantee mechanism,so as to better promote the development of Chinese national community awareness education in ethnic institutions in the northwest.
