A Study On The Current Situation And Relationship Between Ethnic Identity,Ethnic Cultural Confidence And Chinese Ethnic Community Consciousness Among Li,Miao And Hui Ethnic Group Youths In Hainan Province

When attending the fifth session of the 13 th National People’s Congress,General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized that "ethnic unity is the lifeline of our people of all ethnic groups,and the Chinese ethnic community consciousness is the foundation of ethnic unity." It is of great theoretical and practical significance to study the influencing factors of Chinese national community consciousness and how to cast a firm sense of Chinese national community.At present,there are not many empirical studies on ethnic identity,ethnic cultural confidence and Chinese ethnic community consciousness.Hainan is a multi-ethnic province,in addition to the Han ethnic group,of which the Li ethnic group population is the largest,followed by other ethnic groups such as the Miao and Hui ethnic group.The study of youth ethnic psychology in Hainan is of great significance to local ethnic education.In this paper,a total of 1074 Li,Miao and Hui ethnic group adolescents in Hainan Province were selected to explore the current status and relationship between their ethnic identity,ethnic cultural confidence,and Chinese ethnic community consciousness.The results of the study are as follows:(1)There are significant ethnic differences in four dimensions: ethnic cultural identity,ethnic identity,ethnic social identity,and Chinese ethnic identity.There are significant gender differences in the ethnic identity dimension,with girls having a higher degree of ethnic identity than boys.The differences in the five dimensions of ethnic cultural identity,ethnic identity,ethnic social identity,Chinese socio-cultural identity,and Chinese ethnic identity were all significant in terms of grade level,and the interaction between ethnic identity and ethnic social identity was significant in terms of grade level.The differences in the three dimensions of ethnic identity,Chinese socio-cultural identity and Chinese ethnic identity were significant in terms of place of origin,with urban adolescents identifying to a higher degree than rural adolescents;the interaction between place of origin and ethnicity was significant,with urban Hui ethnic group adolescents identifying to a higher degree.(2)There were significant ethnic differences in the two dimensions of cultural emotion and motivation.The gender differences in the cultural emotion and motivation dimensions were significant,with boys having higher levels of ethnic cultural confidence than girls;the cultural emotion interaction was significant for both gender and ethnicity,with male Hui ethnic group adolescents having higher levels of cultural emotion.There were also significant differences in the motivation dimension by grade level,with both cultural emotion and motivation interacting significantly at both ethnicity and grade level,with the level of ethnic cultural confidence decreasing as the grade level increased.There were no significant differences in any of the birthplace factors.(3)Significant ethnic differences in the emotional dimension.The gender difference in the emotion dimension is significant,with girls having a higher level of emotion than boys.Yearly differences in the cognitive,affective and volitional dimensions are significant,with the level of Chinese ethnic community consciousness increasing as the year progresses.Differences in the cognitive dimension by place of origin were significant,with urban youth having a higher level of cognition than rural youth.(4)There are two correlations among ethnic identity,ethnic cultural confidence,and Chinese ethnic community consciousness;ethnic identity can predict ethnic cultural confidence,ethnic identity can predict Chinese ethnic community consciousness,and ethnic cultural confidence can predict Chinese ethnic community consciousness.(5)Ethnic Cultural Confidence Partially Mediates Ethnic Identity and Chinese Ethnic Community Consciousness.Therefore,the conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)There are differences in ethnic identity,ethnic cultural confidence and Chinese ethnic community consciousness among Li,Miao and Hui ethnic group adolescents in Hainan Province,and there is a need to implement targeted ethnic mental health education activities.(2)Ethnic identity and Chinese ethnic community consciousness are closely related,and ethnic identity can not only influence Chinese ethnic community consciousness directly,but also indirectly through ethnic cultural confidence.
