The Political And Economic Research On Sino-American Trade War Since 2018

The National Security Strategy released by the Donald Trump administration at the end of 2017 identified China as a "Strategic competitor" and replaced the strategy of engagement with strategic competition,Sino-U.S.economic and trade relations have gradually deteriorated from "Sino-U.S.trade friction" to "Sino-U.S.Trade War".The outbreak of Covid-19 in early 2020 failed to advance bilateral cooperation in public health and to slow the downward trend in bilateral relations,with the United States more inclined to take a confrontational stance in dealing with bilateral differences,and treat all issues as national security issues.The 2021 Joseph Robinette Biden has won the election as the 46th President of the United States.Although the Biden administration has repeatedly said it will review its trade policy with China,it has not taken concrete steps to ease bilateral relations,on the contrary,the attitude towards China is more targeted and strategic.This paper analyzes the evolution of the Sino-us trade war and summarizes the economic and political reasons for the U.S.trade war with China.From the economic aspect,the main reasons are the problems of the American economy,including the serious hollowing out of industry,the increasing polarization between the rich and the poor and the prevalence of trade protectionism,the trade war has also been fuelled by a shift in economic relations between China and the U.S.:China’s long-running huge trade surplus with the U.S.is widening,and the industrial structure between China and the U.S.has shifted from "Complementarity" to "Competition",the U.S.sees its global economic leadership under increased threat.From the political point of view,because the United States to maintain its hegemony,the "Peaceful evolution" of the failure of the Chinese plan and economic factors increasingly become geopolitical competition weapons,the U.S.diplomatic strategy towards China began to change from contact to strategic competition,domestic disagreements,pressure from lobbyists,campaigning for elections,and a revival of the "America first" principle have also helped fuel the trade war.The trade war between China and the United States has had a negative impact on both countries and the world:first,the economies of both countries have been hit hard,and American industries are already suffering the negative impact of the trade war;second,the geopolitical conflict between the two countries has intensified,third,the multilateral cooperation mechanism is destroyed,which has a negative impact on the solution of global public problems.Based on this,this paper provides corresponding countermeasures for the Sino-U.S.trade war.The Sino-U.S.trade war is still going on.The Sino-U.S.Trade War is the epitome of the substantial changes in Sino-U.S.relations.However,Sino-U.S.economic and trade relations are deeply embedded in the value chain of globalization.China and the U.S.still have common interests and shoulder great responsibilities for the global economy.Recognizing the essence of the current trade war between the two countries,analyzing its causes and promoting its peaceful settlement are of great significance to the bilateral relations between China and the United States and to global stability,he also contributed Chinese wisdom to breaking the shackles of western Realism theory.
