| The Hainan community is one of the five major dialect groups of the Chinese community in Singapore,and the Singapore Hainan Hwee Kuan,as a representative association of the Hainan community,not only reflects the process of political and social changes in Singapore from the colonial era to the contemporary times,but also continues to adapt and develop in response to the changes of the times.Since the 1980s,the Singapore government has been adjusting its domestic and foreign policy to adapt to the changing situation in the world and the Asia-Pacific region,and has been implementing a policy of diversity,equality and harmony among ethnic groups,which has had a great impact on the traditional Chinese clan associations.The Singapore Hainan Hwee Kuan has seized the opportunity of the development of the times to reform.In terms of the purpose,the Hainan Hwee Kuan has adapted to the harmonious community policy of Singapore,and aims to promote the development of Hainan community and local society;in terms of organizational structure,the Hainan Hwee Kuan has adjusted its internal organizational structure around the purpose,and promoted the development of the relationship network with the external hainan clan associations,the country of residence in Singapore,and the ancestral homeland of Hainan;in terms of operational content,the Hainan Hwee Kuan continues to promote educational,cultural,charitable,transnational and economic activities in response to the needs of Singapore’s political,economic and cultural development;in terms of function,the Hainan Hwee Kuan continues to play a role in promoting the localization of the Association,promoting the harmonious coexistence of the Hainan community,promoting the political and cultural construction and social integration of Singapore,and promoting the interaction between Singapore and Hainan through the expression of activities.On this basis,the Singapore Hainan Hwee Kuan gradually out of the marginalization of the dilemma,and further achieve the transformation and development.The transformation and development of the Singapore Hainan Hwee Kuan is not only a product of the Singapore government’s adaptation to the changes in the Asia-Pacific region,especially the rise of China,and the promotion of a pluralistic,egalitarian and harmonious ethnic policy,but also provides a good organizational form and operational mechanism for the development of traditional Chinese clan associations.However,as Singapore’s politics,economy and society continue to develop,the Hainan Hwee Kuan are also facing many challenges.According to the policy needs of Singapore in inheriting Chinese culture,promoting the integration of new immigrants,and promoting economic development,the Hainan Hwee Kuan also presents new development trends in the internal construction of the association,the joint dynamics of the hainan clan associations,the integration of Singapore’s political culture and new immigrants,and the Hainan transnational network system. |
