The rapid development of the Internet has enabled more middle-aged and elderly people to enjoy a convenient life, and the popularity of the Internet among middle-aged and elderly groups is also increasing. The report of the 20 th CPC National Congress proposed to implement the national strategy of actively responding to the aging population.Researching the impact of Internet use on the health of middle-aged and elderly people can promote active aging and promote the construction of a Healthy China.Based on the data of Chinese General Social Survey(CGSS)in 2017,firstly,the thesis uses the Logit regression model and the propensity score matching model to analyze the impact of Internet use on the health of middle-aged and elderly people, and uses variable substitution method and model substitution method to test robustness. Then, the thesis analyzes the mechanism of Internet use on the health of middle-aged and elderly people through the mediation effect model. Finally, the thesis uses the Logit regression model and the propensity score matching model to analyze the heterogeneity of different groups of middle-aged and elderly people. The research finds that Internet use has a significant positive effect on the "self-rated health","mental health" and " impact of health on life " of middle-aged and elderly people, and the results are robust.Mechanism analysis shows that Internet use affects the health of middle-aged and elderly people through social channels, but does not affect the health of middle-aged and elderly people through leisure and learning channels. The heterogeneity analysis finds that Internet use has a relatively greater effect on the self-rated health of middle-aged and elderly people who are young,male,rural,non-living alone and with low education levels.Internet use has a greater promoting effect on the "impact of health on life" of elderly,male,rural,non-living alone, and highly educated middle-aged and elderly people, that is,health issues have a smaller impact on life.Internet use has a greater impact on promoting the mental health of elderly, female, rural, and low educated middle-aged and elderly people. The innovation of the thesis is to expand the research object from the elderly group to the middle-aged and elderly group, increase the research dimension and perspective, use the propensity score matching model to overcome the self-selection bias, and use the mediation effect model to explore the impact mechanism of Internet use on the health of middle-aged and elderly people. |
