A Probe Into Langdon Winner’s Thought Of Technological Politics

Technology,with its inherent "masking" nature,has always been in the marginal position of western political philosophy,and has not become the object of extensive reflection,such as morality,science and truth.It was not until Heidegger put forward that "technology is a way of masking" that technology was able to return to the public view.With the rapid development of social science and technology,rapid changes of technology have infiltrated into life to promote social development.However,problems such as nuclear leakage,global warming and so on have been in a stalemate.For a time,"human control of technology has been threatened","human beings have completely lost their direction in the technological world" and other words with the color of technological domination have become increasingly popular.Faced with such a dilemma,Langdon Winner proposed the political thought of technology load from the perspective of politics,which attracted the attention of the academic community.Winner deeply investigated the political nature hidden in technology,made a non essential definition of technology,and put forward the concepts of "technology drift","technology law" and "reverse adaptation" to reveal the autonomy of technology.It also examines the political nature of technology from two dimensions,namely,the external and internal political nature of technology,reveals the nature of technology as a way of life,and strives to find a feasible control path of technological democracy from the practice of technological democracy.In addition,in view of Frankenstein’s problem,Winner believes that technical legislation and Dellerism in the sense of epistemology can be regarded as an effective way of thinking.As an early political theorist in contemporary America,Langdon Winner absorbed Marx,Mumford,Ellul and other thinkers’ theories on technology and industrial society,revealed the problems behind many technological phenomena in contemporary human society,and saw the plight of modern technology.On the basis of inheriting Ellul’s thought of technological autonomy,Winner put forward the political thought of technology from the perspective of politics,and explored the technological dilemma facing mankind at present.He raised the thought of technological politics to the height of technological philosophy.His works "Autonomous Technology: Technology Out of Control Becomes a Theme of Political Thought" and "Whales and Reactors: A Study of the Limitations of the High tech Era" both contain the essence of his thought.Wenner’s research field just caters to the needs of the times and the hot topics that are widely concerned by people at home and abroad.In reality,the academic value of the ideology of technological politics is prominent,and the research and sorting of its ideology is of great significance to guide practical practice.
