Research On The Neighborhood Relationship Construction Of The Migrant Elders From The Perspective Of Community Empowerment

In recent years,with the development of urbanization and the commercialization of housing reform,the "the migrated elders",has become more and more concerned people among the migrant population.In order to better take care of the third-generation members of the family,the migrated elders abandon their familiar living environment and social circle to come to the cities where their children settled,especially the female elderly people,who left their native land,and the social relations such as the original geographical,blood and professional ties are fractured,in addition,due to cultural differences and family responsibilities,the migrated elders are under great pressure of family care,poor social interaction and neighborhood interaction in the new city life.Social Isolation has not only brought about the difficulties of adaption and integration of the old people,but also affected the happiness of families and the harmony of the community,it is of great significance to pay attention to the needs of migrated elders,help migrated elders to establish new neighborhood relations,change their own and community situation,independently innovate management methods and service items of urban communities,and promote the harmonious development trend of the community.In this study,the author used the basic theory of Community Empowerment as the research perspective,through the case study method,analyze from individual empowerment,organization empowerment and community empowerment and explore how social worker help migrated elders to build up neighbour relation based on community empowerment,and sums up the practical methods for the migrated elders to face and solve the social isolation and integration difficulties caused by social migration.This study found that through the process of empowerment,social workers can eliminate the sense of powerlessness,regain the sense of control over the environment,and promote the awareness of community consciousness and self-expression,encourage dialogue and interaction with the community,inspire and enhance self-efficacy,through the delegation of authority to further advocate and promote the migrated elders to participate in community cultural activities,and truly promote the transformation of themselves and the community change.In theory,this study enriches the related research on the construction of the migrated elders’ neighborhood,and also enriches the practical activities and applications of the theory of community cultivation in Chinese urban communities.In practice,this study can provide some reference for migrated elders ’ community integration and the urban adaptation predicament,as well as the governance of urban grassroots communities.
