Educational expectations refer to the expectations and desires of individuals for their future academic achievements.Relevant studies have shown that the individual’s early educational expectations at the academic stage have an important impact on their current academic performance and future educational attainment. This article uses the baseline data of the China Education Panel Survey(CEPS),and based on the expected value theory,on the one hand,it studies the educational expectations of the seventh and ninth grade students across the country from the three aspects of family, school, and personal factors. On the other hand,in the two grades, the educational expectations of the special group of "outstanding students" were explored. The study found that, firstly, the parent-child relationship will affect the educational expectations of Grade 7 and Grade 9 students.Specifically, the better the relationship between students and their mother, the more positive the influence on their educational expectations, while the better the relationship between students and their father, the more negative the influence on their educational expectations.Secondly, the more positive the homeroom teacher’s graduation advice to Grade 9 students is,the higher the students’ educational expectation is.Thirdly, students’ negative emotions have a positive impact on their educational expectations, which may be because most of students’ negative emotions are caused by academic pressure. Finally, the innovation of this paper lies in the separate research on the educational expectations of the two grades of "outstanding students".In terms of "outstanding students",personal factors have the greatest impact on the educational expectations of them.Their educational expectations are significantly weaker than other students, influenced by their nationality, place of birth, household registration and other personal social backgrounds. In addition, the better the relationship with the mother, the higher the educational expectation of "outstanding students".It is worth noting that family economic conditions and educational expectations show a negative causal relationship, that is,the better the family economic conditions, the lower the parents’ educational expectations of students, which is different from the findings of many previous scholars.Research believes that promoting education equity and helping people establish correct educational values is an important measure to promote the continuous development of education in our country. At the same time, parents and teachers should use positive ways to increase students’ attention to education and raise their educational expectations.
