| From the success of Beijing’s bid for the Olympic Games in 2001 to the holding of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games,the development of China’s sports industry has improved significantly.China’s first successful hosting of the Olympic Games is of great significance to the development of the Olympic movement and the reform and development of China’s sports industry.The number of gold medals and the ability to obtain gold medals in sports field have always been an important embodiment of a country’s comprehensive sports strength,cultural soft power and even comprehensive national strength.In the Beijing Olympic Games,China has achieved the first place in the gold medal list and the second place in the medal list,attaining the glory of the host.In the following Olympic Games,the number of gold medals won by the Chinese team did not exceed the number when the Olympic Games were held in China,However,the expectations and concerns of the public have shifted to a certain extent,and the mentality of winning gold medals in sports events has also changed.Especially as Beijing is the host of the Olympic Games,the concerns and mentality of Beijing residents have changed even more.With the coming of the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games and the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games,it is necessary to investigate and study the gold medal mentality of Beijing residents,so as to understand the current public’s views,and further to improve their enthusiasm to pay attention to the Olympic Games and participate in sports.On the basis of previous studies,this thesis uses the methods of literature,interview and questionnaire survey to deeply discuss the trend and causes of Beijing residents’ gold medal mentality.The conclusion for the gold medal in the mentality of Beijing residents is not the "gold medal or nothing" theory,gold medal in the first extreme idea and gradually transforms the single direction to a more rational view in major sports scores,no longer seeking for the gold medal as a result.People are gradually accepting other results of the game.In the evolution process of Beijing residents’ gold medal mentality there were the collective revelry to Chinese athletes when they got the gold medal,the attack against the athletes who couldn’t get the medal because of their mistakes,and the severe criticism to the alienation of competitive sports.Obviously,the mentality changes incrementally.Although competitive sports results in the future is still associated with national honor,still with the political and economic blending together,people’s attention is not limited in the achievement and the amount of gold,but to focus on events with more diversified content,appreciate the performance of the athletes and sports spirit.Thus,this thesis argues that why Beijing residents’ mentality changes:firstly,with the improvement of China’s comprehensive national strength,Beijing residents’ self-confidence and pride have been satisfied in political,economic and cultural development,and people no longer rely too much on the social impact of competitive sports gold medal results.Secondly,the scale of mega sport events is huge and far-reaching,with many social functions.The success of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games makes Beijing residents feel the comprehensive value of the events,and promotes ordinary residents to pay more attention to the games from a more diverse perspective.Thirdly,more extensive sports cognition is an important factor for Beijing residents to weaken their awareness of gold medals.People realize that even if athletes fail to win medals,the process of participating in the competition is also important.With the improvement of scientific literacy and humanistic literacy,Beijing residents’ ideological cognition of "only competitive sports" is gradually weakening.Fourthly,after the improvement of material living standards,Beijing residents pay more attention to the realization of healthy life,and the demand for the development of mass sports is increasing.Their sports mentality is more healthy,rational and pragmatic. |
