The ideological and political course in senior high school is the key course to cultivate the political core accomplishment and implement the fundamental task of moral education.However,in high school ideological and political teaching,there are problems of students’ motivation such as poor attention state and lack of learning confidence.How to stimulate and maintain students’ learning motivation through teaching has become an important subject for the majority of ideological and political teachers.ARCS motivation model is a teaching design model developed by Professor Keller of Florida State University in the 1980 s.The model designs teaching by including four dimensions of Attention,Relevance,Confidence and Satisfaction.With the help of four kinds of concrete and feasible incentive strategies,students’ enthusiasm for classroom learning can be effectively improved.It is the most systematic theory that integrates motivation promotion principle into teaching process at present.This study attempts to take ARCS motivation model as the theoretical basis to study how to stimulate students’ learning motivation through teaching in high school ideological and political classroom teaching.This paper first introduces ARCS related theories,and then analyzes the importance of ARCS motivation model applied in high school ideological teaching.Secondly,questionnaire and interview were used to investigate the current situation of high school students’ motivation for learning ideological and political courses,and the problems and reasons of ARCS motivation model in the application of high school ideological and political teaching were studied and analyzed.On the basis of analysis and research,the teaching strategies of ideological and political lessons are proposed from four dimensions of attention,relevance,self-confidence and satisfaction.Finally,an example is given to analyze the teaching strategy of ARCS motivation model.
